2.2 - Kudos

Kudos are what set Project Gotham (And it's predecessor, Metropolis Street Racer for Dreamcast) apart from other racing games. Instead of coming in first place or getting a fastest time, you have to concentrate on style in addition to doing well in the race. Hopefully this section will teach you how to get those kudos, but the best way to rack up kudos is to practice getting them.

What Are Kudos?

Kudos are a system of points which are used for getting cars and getting medals. Medals gained can go towards unlocking cars, Free Roam, and equal progress in Kudos Challenge.

How Do I Get Kudos?

There are two times when you can get kudos, in a race and as a bonus after a race in Kudos Challenge. There are six ways to get kudos in a race:

1. Slides - When going around a corner you can tap the handbrake (A) and slide around the corner or tap the brake (L) then accelerate (R) through the rest of the turn. Use the handbrake method at first, it's easier to do.

2. Jumps - If you go over a hill with enough speed and get some air you will get kudos based on how long the jump lasted.

3. 360s - If you manage to do a 360-degree spin, you will get kudos for it. It isn't really worth it to try for this.

4. Overtakes - When you overtake (Pass) another car in a one on one, street race or overtake challenge you will get 10 kudos when you overtake a car.

5. Clean Section bonuses - Every time you pass a checkpoint you have a chance to get this. If you make it between consecutive checkpoints in a race without hitting any walls or other cars more than once you will get this. The amount you get varies depending on the race.

6. Time bonuses - If you're playing a hot lap race, timed run, or style challenge and still have time on the clock when you finish, you get kudos based on how much time you have left on the clock. The amount of kudos you get after a race is based on what you set the difficulty of the race to before the race.

Before the race, you can adjust a variable that will make the race easier/harder. If you make it easier you will get less kudos after the race, making it harder will give you more kudos. You can double the total amount amount of kudos you get in race by using a joker, but be careful when you use one as you only get one per level.

You can also get large amounts of kudos by comboing. After you do one of the first five things in the above list to get kudos, the amount of kudos which will be added to your score is displayed below the score. That stays there for about three seconds until it is added to your score. In that three seconds you can do something else in that list to continue adding to that amount. If you pull of a combo you will get additional kudos based on how many different things you did. In order to combo more and get bigger combos, you'll have to use a technique which I call forcing slides. It's just that, forcing yourself to slide. Tap your handbrake or continually swerve left and right until you start to slide. It's that simple. Be sure to practice it a bit so you don't end up slamming into a wall when you've got a big combo going!

2.3 - Getting Started/Game Modes/Options

Starting the game for the first time

When you start the game for the first time you will be asked to create a driver. A driver is just a save file. Put in your name, choose your favorite license plate style, change the text on it, choose a helmet for your driver (Which can be seen during the game) and continue. Don't worry, if you want to change your license plate or change your helmet style you can at any time by going to the options menu and going to the driver manager. After you choose that, you can decide where you want to save your game. Once you finish that you'll be taken to the main menu.

Main Menu

On the main menu you will be able to choose from these game modes and options:

Quick Race - A street race against five opponents. There are four difficulty levels, come in at least 3rd place in every level to unlock the next.

Arcade Race - A race for kudos. There are four difficulty levels. Earn the minimum number of kudos for a bronze medal in each race on a level to unlock the next level.

Kudos Challenge - A series of races spanning 13 levels (One is hidden) with many types of races. Earning a bronze medal in each race on a level will unlock the next level.

Time Attack - Race alone to get the fastest lap time you can. Ghosts can be saved and raced against.

Medal Pursuit (NOTE: This does not become unlocked until you have 5 hours of play time on your save) - Choose a car and beat the lap times on that car's course to unlock new paint jobs for that car.

Multiplayer - Race together with up to three friends on any of the tracks you have unlocked. Multiplayer options can be changed in the options menu.

Options - Adjust various gameplay options (Detailed in next section).

Game demos - Watch demo movies for Amped, NFL Fever 2002 and Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee or play a demo of Fuzion Frenzy .

Options

These are all the options available in the options menu:

Game Settings - Here you can turn the rear view mirror on/off, choose whether speed is displayed in miles or kilometers per hour, turn the in-game map on/off, turn the city flythrough at the beginning of races on and off, change the weather and time of day in time attack mode and change multiplayer options. Multiplayer options include a time of day setting, laps setting (1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20 or 30 laps), choose whether the person who wins is determined by who comes in first place or who gets more kudos, toggle the split-screen view between horizontal and vertical and change the extra finish time (5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 seconds) which is how long everyone else has to finish the race after the first person has

Controller Settings - Lets you choose from four different control schemes, turn vibration on/off and turn auto-reverse on/off.

Sound Settings - Adjust the music volume, sound effects volume and ambient noise (Car alarms, dogs barking, etc.) balance.

Music Manager - Let's you select which tracks from the game's soundtrack and from the music that you have on your Xbox which you want to hear in the game on user radio or CD modes in-game.

Driver Manager - Let's you change your license plate style, license plate text and helmet style.

Replays - Watch the replays that you've saved.

Demos - View various demos (Replays).

View Credits - View the credits of the game's staff.

2.4 - Medals

Medals are awarded to you after every race. Depending on your performance, you will get either a gold, silver or bronze medal. Each mode has different criteria for all three types of medals. In Quick Race you get a gold medal for 1st place, a silver for 2nd place and a bronze for 3rd place. Arcade Race and Kudos Challenge both award them based on the amount of kudos you earn in a race. Medal Pursuit awards them based on your time. All medal Persuit does with medals is gives you different paint jobs for the car you used based on what you get, in the other modes they determine progress. Getting at least a bronze medal in a level in Quick Race, Arcade Race or Kudos Challenge will unlock the next level. Getting all gold medals for a level in Quick Race or Arcade Race will unlock a car. Getting only gold and silver metals in certain levels in Kudos Challenge will unlock other things.

2.5 - The Game Screen

When you're in the game there will be information regarding the race on the left hand side of the screen and your speedometer and tachometer on the right. Your tachometer is displayed above your speedometer in the lower-right corner along with an odometer (Which isn't important unless your interested in how far you've driven) and a display showing what gear your car is in. On the left hand side of the screen information regarding your current race is displayed. This will change depending on the race, it shows things such as your place/time left, lap time, etc. Below it is the track map. Your car is displayed as an arrow, all others are displayed as blue dots. The green line is the starting line and the yellow lines are checkpoints.

The Pause Menu

Pressing start at any time during a race will bring up the pause menu and pause the game. Here you can continue the race, restart the race, turn the ghost car off for your current lap (Only in hot laps and time attack mode), change camera options, change audio options and quit the race. Choosing 'Camera' will bring up another menu. Mode lets change the camera angle, lens does what it says and changes the lens to give you more view options and the bars below let you fine-tune the camera to fit your preferences. Going to 'Radio/CD' brings up the audio menu. You can adjust the sound effects music and ambiance volume and choose an audio mode. Off means no music, radio plays all the songs from the game's soundtrack with a DJ from one of the radio stations in the game announcing the songs, user radio is the same except plays the playlist you have in the game which can be edited in the music manager in options and CD plays all the songs in order without the DJs. You can change the track yourself.

3. The Cities & Neighborhoods

===================================================================Edit

Note: This is not a listing of the tracks in the game, but the cities and neighborhoods where the tracks are located. A complete listing of the tracks and their lengths can be found near the end of this FAQ.

3.1 - San Francisco

Financial District

Not much in terms of difficulty here, all the streets are very wide and most turns are 90 degree angles (Or less). There are no hills at all in this neighborhood. What to watch out for: Nothing, really.

Fishermans Wharf

A bit harder than the Financial District. There are quite a few wide roads but some narrow ones are thrown in, there are some hills and a switchback. What to watch out for: There is a narrow road that runs close to the water that tends to have a sharp turn at one end and near it there is a dead-end of sorts that will require you to make a sharp turn and then two 90 degree turns close to it. Further in there is a very large hill with Cable Car tracks running with a road that leads to the top of the switchback (Be VERY careful on that turn) and one more road further up after that where you also have to be careful when turning onto. The switchback has a narrow road leading to it on the bottom and most courses make you make the 180 degree turn onto it and onto the road above it.

Pacific Heights

Like the Financial District, the streets here are all very vide and here every turn will be a 90 degree angle. The catch? The hills. Be vary careful here as the hills can easily get the better of you if you're not careful. What to watch out for: The brick street that has two planters with trees in them. It's located at the top of the biggest hill in the neighborhood.

3.2 - London

Trafalgar

Not all that bad, the roads are pretty wide and not too many difficult turns. There are some statues in the streets that you do need to be careful of, though. What to watch out for: The statues in the streets. There is one road that has most of them but there is one atop some stairs that are used in a few tracks and a traffic light in the middle of the road near a small park. Also be careful when going down the stairs as you have to turn right after landing. There is also a building near the stairs that spans across the road with arches dividing up the road.

St. James' Park

Similar to Trafalgar in that there are some statues in the middle of one road (The one farthest away from the park) and instead of one set of stairs there are two. There are straight roads along side the park and at one end some monuments that you'll have to navigate around. There are many paths inside the park, but the are mostly straight and not too much to worry about. What to watch out for: The statues and the stairs (Like in Trafalgar). There are also usually some sharp turns going into and out of the park.

Westminster

This area is mostly made up of very long, narrow roads that are relatively straight. Just don't let the twists in them take you by surprise. Often the turns take you around an object in the intersection or around something bigger. What to watch out for: The objects in the middle of the turns, make sure to go a bit slower than usual to deal with them.

3.3 - Tokyo

Asakusa

This one is a mixed bag with some big streets and narrow alleys. On one side of the river there is a winding road that makes sharp turns by a small tunnel. On the other side there are the bigger roads and the alleys mixed together. Most tracks mostly stay on the bigger roads and veer into the alleys only for a little bit. In one corner there is a temple (Or something) with a vary narrow round leading directly towards it and a sharp turn onto an equally narrow street. What to watch out for: The narrow alleys scattered across the area, especially the one leading up to the temple which has a sharp turn at the end.

Shibuya

Also mixed with big roads and narrow streets, but with much fewer narrow streets than Asakusa. Near the bus terminal there are a few places where the road is divided down the center and there is an underpass where the road is split into three. Not much other than that except sometimes there tend to be some nasty turns here and there. What to watch out for: The areas near the bus terminal where the road is divided and the underpass. The underpass has pillars in it that divide the road into two parts, I tend to use the outside section the most unless there is a turn right after it. In that case, I would take the inside section.

Shinjuku

Probably the easiest of all the areas in Tokyo, mostly wide open roads and easy turns. What to watch out for: There is a road that is divided in the middle, in some races one side is blocked off but in others you come onto it after a turn and can easily hit the divider.

3.4 - New York

Central Park

In my opinion, this is the hardest area. The park itself consists of many very narrow dirt paths and roads which make sharp turns. By happy when you get to drive on the roads on the edges of the park, they are very wide and have no turns (Except when you get the pleasure of going back into the park). Just be careful on some of the turns between the park and the outside roads and there is one intersection with a large object in the middle that you have to navigate around. What to watch out for: EVERYTHING. Especially the dirt paths. Just try and take the dirt paths slowly and don't go too fast through the winds on the roads in the park.

Times Square

MUCH easier than Central Park. There are lots of wide roads mixed with average sized ones. However, there are some narrow roads thrown in here and there (Especially near Grand Central Station) that you need to be careful of. What to watch out for: Some of the roads around Grand Central Station. They are very narrow and make very sharp turns. If you don't know what Grand Central Station looks like, it has narrow roads on both sides that connect in the front with another narrow road leading up to it. In the back the two roads bend in an enclosed area.

Wall Street

Narrow. That sums up a large portion of this place. There are a few wider roads near the waterfront but everything more inland is very narrow. There are also a lot of difficult turns on many of the turns thanks to the narrow roads. There is also a long, curved tunnel that runs along the edge of the water. What to watch out for: Other than the narrow roads and the difficult turns, the tunnel. The tunnel is divided in the middle so make sure you don't slam into the divider when hitting it. Just like the rest of the area, the tunnel is very narrow so be careful since it does curve.

5. The Race Types

===================================================================Edit

This is a listing all of the different types of races that are in Kudos Challenge.

Street Race

The most common race type in Kudos Challenge, you are up against 5 other cars in a normal race. You have to place in the top three in order to finish the race, unless you adjust the difficulty while in Kudos Challenge.

One On One

You are against up one car and if you win, you get that car. You can adjust the difficulty to give either you or your opponent a head start.

Hot Lap - Single

A time trial where on at lest one lap, you have to get a lap time better than the one set before the race. The amount of time you get for the lap can be adjusted before the race. In this mode you always start a distance behind the starting line so you can get up some speed before the race starts. The timer won't start and you can't get any kudos until you cross the starting line.

Hot Lap - Average

Similar to Hot Lap - Single. Instead of having to beat the lap time on only one lap, the average time of every lap has to be under the lap time. The lap time can be adjusted before the race. Just like in Hot Lap - Single, you start behind the starting line and the race does not start until you cross it.

Overtake Challenge

Your goal is to pass (Or overtake) a set number of the cars driving around the track you're on. The number of cars you have to overtake can be adjusted before the race.

Style Challenge

Here your goal is to get a certain amount of kudos before finishing the race. There are cones and cone gates to help you get kudos and to become obstacles to get in your way. Hitting any cones will be the same as hitting a wall, you'll lose any kudos that you're about to get. Passing between two green cones will give you some kudos and going through two blue cones will give you kudos based on your speed as you pass through them. The amount of kudos you need to get can be adjusted before the race.

Timed Run

In this mode you have a set time limit to complete an entire race. You have no opponents but there are other cars on the track to get in your way. The amount of time you get can be adjusted before the race.

Total Laps Challenge

Just like the name says, your challenge here is to complete a total number of laps within the allotted time. The amount of laps you have to complete can be adjusted before the race.

Top Speed Challenge

Obviously, your goal here is to reach a certain speed. All you have to do is meet that speed and then wait for the time to run out. There are speed gates (Blue cones) to help you get kudos in these. The speed you have to reach can be adjusted before the race.

Average Speed Challenge

Instead of just reaching a certain speed like in the Top Speed Challenge, here your speed is recorded whenever you cross a checkpoint and is averaged out. The average which you must reach can be adjusted before the race.

===================================================================Edit

6. Quick Race

===================================================================Edit

All of the races in Quick Race are street races. You get a bronze medal for coming in 3rd place, a silver medal for coming in 2nd place and a gold medal for coming in 1st place. If you get at least a bronze medal on every race in a level you unlock the next level, getting all golds will get you a new car. Any kudos you get in this mode go towards your total kudos. Something very important about this mode which you must know is that the cars you race against are determined by the car you use, so your best car isn't always a good choice. There were only three cars I used in this mode, the Audi TT (Either version), the Skyline GTR for some races I couldn't beat with the Audi and the MINI Cooper for races I had trouble with using either of those cars. Yes, the Cooper can be much better than you'd think. You might not want to use to Skyline because by the you have it unlocked, the car you get from the fourth level won't be very useful. The sooner you get through this mode, the more advantage you can have in Kudos Challenge.

6.1 - Level 1: Easy

I recommend using the Audi TT for all of these races. You shouldn't have too much trouble winning as long as you don't screw up. And if you do, don't worry, you can always restart the race (And you may need to a few times).

San Francisco

Location: San Francisco - Financial District Track: Federal Reserve Laps: 2 Advice: This race takes place on a VERY easy track. Nothing to worry about (Just don't screw up the two left turns together right after the start) and your opponents aren't a threat. Take it easy and you'll do fine.

London

Location: London - Westminster Track: Big Ben Laps: 2 Advice: This track is very easy as well. Make sure you don't take the first turn too fast because it's not as wide as it may look at first. The other three big turns can be taken a bit faster as they are actually wider. Don't worry about your opponents being much of a problem, they aren't very challenging at all in the very easy level (As you could have probably guessed).

Tokyo

Location: Tokyo - Asakusa Track: Asakusa Challenge Laps: 2 Advice: This track is a bit tricky compared to the last two. Once you pass the first checkpoint and get off the bridge, you have to make a right into a narrow street. This leads to the temple area where you have to make a sharp left onto another narrow road. Before the turn there is a little area you can cut through but it doesn't save you much time. Once you're on this new road you're going to have to make a left onto ANOTHER narrow road, so be careful. After that you're back on the bigger roads. Still, the other cars should be easy to beat so as long as you don't screw up in that area by the temple you should be fine.

New York

Location: New York - Wall Street Track: Water & Nassau Laps: 2 Advice: After the first turn you will have to navigate a series of turns in some tight corridors. They aren't as narrow as the ones on the last track, but you still don't have all that much room to breathe. After about six of these turns in the alleys you'll make a turn onto a big road. Make sure to slow down at the end, because you have to make a sharp turn. As with the last three races, you won't have to worry about your opponents if you don't make any bad mistakes.

6.2 - Level 2: Medium

These get to be a little bit harder, but you still shouldn't have problems. I would also recommend the Audio TT for every race in this level.

San Francisco

Location: San Francisco - Fishermans Wharf Track: Russian Hill Challenge Laps: 3 Advice: After the first two turns you'll briefly go onto a street that runs diagonal and then you have to make a sharp turn to the left followed by a right; so make sure to be prepared for them. After those, you go up a hill and have to make a turn on top of the hill, take this a little bit slower you would than a normal turn because it's easy to spin out on turns like this. The next turn should also be taken somewhat slowly (Slowly for a turn, obviously) but the next turn at the very top of the hill is even worse. If you take it too fast, you're screwed, so take it slowly. On your way down the hill there are three intersections, the turn is on the third one. You'll get some air off of the first two so make sure you aren't going too fast before the second intersection so you can land and safely make the turn. The other cars will be a bit more competitive for this whole level but you still should be able to pull ahead of them and stay ahead of them without much trouble. If you screw up on one of the turns on a hill you'll probably fall far enough behind them to warrant restarting.

London

Location: London - Trafalgar Track: Admiralty Arch Laps: 3 Advice: When you go by the park at the start of the race make sure you don't hit the thing to the right, and after the left turn when you leave the area with the small park make you don't hit the traffic lights in the middle of the road. After you make the next left and onto the road with the first checkpoint, stay out of the middle because there are many statues that you can easily hit placed right in the middle of the street. At the end of this road there are some stairs you have to jump down with a turn right after them. Make sure to slow down before jumping off them to make the turn, even though it is wide. Hitting the stairs too fast will cause you to hit the barrier on the other side of the turn. On this street, make sure you watch out for the building that spans the road and has arches that divide the road up into three parts. Again, the cars you are facing aren't that much of a problem and you should easily pull ahead of them all before you reach the stairs.

Tokyo

Location: Tokyo - Shibuya Track: Shibuya Challenge II Laps: 3 Advice: The first turn you have to take can be a real problem. I usually either hit the inside of it or go too fast and hit the outside. Make sure to get the timing of when to turn down so you don't screw up like I do. The next couple of turns aren't enough to make you use your brake, but let off on the accelerator for them. One you're on the other end of the track, you have to make a left into the underpass area. Make sure to avoid the supports dividing the road. Take the side on the right because it's easier to get into from the last turn and easier to make the next turn when you use it. The other part is also a bit narrow. After the checkpoint be sure to avoid the metal divider in the middle of the road. The opponents seemed to be closer to me in this race than in the last two, but it still isn't all that difficult to beat them.

New York

Location: New York - Central Park Track: Park Loop Reverse Laps: 3 Advice: The only thing you have to really worry about here is the semi-circle you have to go in here for the first turn. You can easily slide through it or slow down going into it and accelerate out of it. Your opponents slow down significantly so you can easily get a big lead on them here. After the end of the next road you have to make a left, then a right, then another left. After the first left you should be going slow enough to easily make it through the next two turns. Opponents won't bother you much if you can make it through that first turn quickly. If you don't, you can still easily pass them on the straightaways.

6.3 - Level 3: Hard

This is where things start to become difficult. You could still use the Audi TT for San Francisco, London, and New York but no matter how hard I tried I wasn't able to get better than second in Tokyo with it.

San Francisco

Location: San Francisco - Pacific Heights Track: Historic District Challenge Laps: 4 Advice: The track itself isn't much of a challenge, but getting into first place can be. It can take about the whole first lap for you to get into first place, so don't worry if you're halfway through the lap and still in second. Make sure to be careful on the street with the planters with trees in them before the seconds checkpoint.

London

Location: London - St. James' Park Track: St. James's Park Laps: 4 Advice: The first and second turns here are a bit tight, so watch out. After the long straightaway make sure you slow down enough to make the turn, it isn't a difficult turn but it's easy to brake to late on long straightaways and not make the turn after them. After that turn you make a turn onto a road that gets narrow near the end and makes a sharp turn onto a street with monuments in the middle. It's easy to get in first place in the beginning of the race, but the computer won't hesitate to pass you in the later parts of the lap. Make sure that once you get into first that you don't let your opponents take it.

Tokyo

Location: Tokyo - Asakusa Track: Eki-Mae Hairpin Laps: 4 Advice: This one is a real pain. No matter what I did, I wasn't able to come in first in anything less than the Skyline, although you may have some success with the MINI Cooper. The track itself isn't much of a problem, it's your opponents. You do end up in the temple area a few blocks after you get off the second bridge and after you leave the temple area and make a right there is a big street with a very sharp turn after it.

New York

Location: New York - Wall Street Track: Whitehall to Wall Laps: 4 Advice: Don't worry, this track isn't nearly as bad as it looks. A lot of it takes place on bigger roads instead of the alleys that are all too common here. Once you get near the park (Between the checkpoints) the turns start to get a little bit tighter. After the area with the park you get to face the tunnel for the first time. Take the left side of it. Most of the cars will go to the right and being on this side makes it much easier to pass them. It also seems to be easier to avoid hitting the walls on this side. Upon exiting the tunnel veer to the right because you have to go onto a very narrow road to the right of the freeway entrance. At the end of this road you have to make a left in these narrow corridors, but make sure you don't turn to sharply because the way this turn is set up that can send you straight into a wall. The opponents here are nothing compared to what you have to deal with in Tokyo of this level. It still probably will take you awhile to plant yourself in first place, I didn't get into first place until I got in the tunnel.

6.4 - Level 4: Very Hard

This level is a real pain. You are going to probably have to restart many time until you get the track down and can get through it without making any mistakes and without letting the other cars pass you. You can still use the Audi TT for some races here (San Francisco and New York) but in London and Tokyo I would recommend using the MINI Cooper.

San Francisco

Location: San Francisco - Fishermans Wharf Track: The Tour Laps: 5 Advice: Getting into first place shouldn't be that hard at the beginning of the race, you should be able to do it on the first or second turn. After the first checkpoint you have to make a left then a very sharp turn to the right at the top of a very small hill. Take this too fast and you could spin out. At the top of the big hill you get to take the switchback. Going too fast when you turn off of the big hill will cause you to spin out and can easily cost you the race. Right after this checkpoint you have to make a turn onto a narrow road and then into the 180-degree turn that makes up the switchback. My advice for taking that turn is to use your handbrake until you're facing the right way. After that and the right turn there are a series of small hills. Make sure you slow down before the last one so that you can make the turn.

London

Location: London - Westminster Track: Bridge St. Laps: 5 Advice: I had more trouble on this than on any other race in Quick Race mode. The MINI Cooper is the car of choice here. On the first big turn you might not want to slide, you need every bit of speed that you can get coming out of it. Once you've made it through the turn you should be in second or third place. Go as fast as you possibly can from here, you probably won't have to slow down where the road bends, until you get to the next big turn. Take it slowly, but not too slowly, and steer around the thing in the middle. Around now you should be able to pass the car in first place. Continue on and slow down if you need to on the bends. It might not look like you need to slow down on this next turn but you do and if you don't and hit the wall, it'll probably cost you the entire race. The next series of turns are very easy to take and shouldn't give you any trouble.

Tokyo

Location: Tokyo - Shinjuku Track: Koshu Kaido Nishi Laps: 6 Advice: Also use the MINI Cooper here. There isn't much to worry about on the track itself, this one isn't that bad. Just make sure to navigate the series of turns before the first checkpoint slow enough to not slam into anything. At the end, make sure you don't hit the thing in the middle of the street dividing the street.

New York

Location: New York - Times Square Track: East to West 40th Laps: 4 Advice: You should probably go back to using the Audi TT for this one. On the first turn try to avoid the other cars as much as you can. The next two turns are very easy and once you're through them you should be able to get into first place. After the first checkpoint you have to make a left then a right placed right next to each other. Past those you have to make a couple more turns, although they are more spaced out. At the end of the long street you have to make a left onto a narrow road, slow down a lot to take it. You also turn off of this onto a narrow street but you're back on the bigger streets after this.

7. Arcade Race

===================================================================Edit

All of the races in Arcade race mode are style challenges. The medal you get for each race is based on how many kudos you get in the race. The amount of kudos you need for each medal varies depending on the race. Getting at least a bronze medal in every race on a level will unlock the next level. Getting a gold medal in every race on a level will unlock a new car. Before you attempt these, you might want to unlock the Exige because it is very useful for getting Kudos. I used the Exige for almost all of these races, so keep that in mind. Although if you use the Exige, the cars you unlock in this mode won't be all that useful. If you want to win gold here you will have to do lots of combos. To help you continue combos when there are long stretches of road and no cones or turns, you will have to force yourself to slide. To do it, either tap the handbrake until you slide or weave left and right until you start to slide. Be careful when doing this, because you can loose control and hit a wall easily. Note: The strategies here start with you starting the race and end at the end of the first lap, but since nothing on the track changes you can obviously apply this to every lap. Note number 2: You don't always have to force slides when I say to in the earlier levels. If you do follow my advice to the word you should be able to get a very high number of kudos, but you don't need nearly that much to get a medal for the race.

7.1 - Level 1: Easy

This is just an introduction to what's to come in the later levels. It's not very difficult to get golds here if you just combo a little.

San Francisco

Location: San Francisco - Financial District Track: Pier Run Medal Requirements: Gold - 1200 Kudos; Silver - 800 Kudos; Bronze - 400 Kudos Laps: 2 Advice: I'd have to say this is the easiest track for getting kudos there is. You can combo through the whole thing without much effort. Drive through the first sets of cones at the beginning, slide around this first corner and then head down this street. Slide through this corner, pass the speed gate and checkpoint and then slide through the next corner. Reach the corner and slide again. Steer through the cone gates here and slide around the next corner. If you want to continue your combo all the way down this street you're going to have to force yourself to slide. When you get to them, slide around the next two corners. Pass through the cone gates on this street and you get back to the starting line. Do all of that again and you can get the whole thing done in one massive combo.

London

Location: London - Trafalgar Track: Trafalgar Challenge Medal Requirements: Gold - 800 Kudos; Silver - 550 Kudos; Bronze - 300 Kudos Laps: 2 Advice: There aren't as many cone gates here as there were in the last race, so you have to force yourself to slide more to get a big combo. At the start there are gates on either side of the thing on the street and a big gap between those and the next ones at the turn. There's another big gap past here. The next gate is a bit past the turn and then there is yet another gap between this and the next one. There are a few sets of gates close to each other but then there is another gap until you go through the building with the arches in the road. You can slide through that turn to help you combo. After that there is another area with no gates then a turn onto the stairs. At the top of the stairs there is a speed gate to the left of the statue and a normal gate to the right. Go through the speed gate on the left. There are two more normal gates on either side of the next statue then ANOTHER stretch of nothing. Now there will be a few cone gates set up in between a path of normal cones that will force you to go left and right. Slow down a little bit so you don't hit the cones. After this, there is a big turn for you to slide around and a speed gate right before the starting line.

Tokyo

Location: Shibuya Track: Meiji Dori Loop II Medal Requirements: Gold - 900 Kudos; Silver - 600 Kudos; Bronze - 300 Kudos Laps: 2 Advice: Right at the start go to the right of the barrier and not to the left. Go through the gates and then the speed gate that is at the end. Force a slide after that to get you to the checkpoint. Slide across the corner past that and then come up to the underpass. You will have to choose which side to go under. The right has a speed gate at the end but the one in the middle has a couple of normal gates making it easier to combo through. Either way, slide around the next corner when you get there and then force a slide to get to the next speed gate. Force slide again after that until you get to the series of gates and the checkpoint. You can make it between the gates fast enough so don't slide, you'll probably hit the cones if you do, anyway. Slide through the two turns and then pass three cones gates in front of the starting line.

New York

Location: New York - Times Square Track: 6th Ave South Medal Requirements: Gold - 800 Kudos; Silver - 550 Kudos; Bronze - 300 Kudos Laps: 2 Advice: The space between the cone gate right after the start and the next one is too big to connect the kudos from both with a combo, so if you want to do a combo you will have to force yourself to slide. This is also the space between the second cone gate and the one near the turn. Force a slide if you want to continue your combo. After the turn there is also a very large gap, but at the end there are a couple of cone gates and a speed gate. This is followed by another gap, then a few more cone gates and a checkpoint. You can make it to the corner and pull off a slide without forcing a slide. After that there is a speed gate on this next street and another gap between that and the corner. Here there is a series of cone gates close enough so you won't have to force a slide.

7.2 - Level 2: Normal

Things will be starting to get harder in this level and you'll have to pull of a lot more combos in order to get gold medals.

San Francisco

Location: San Francisco - Pacific Heights Track: Victorian Mansion Loop Medal Requirements: Gold - 1200 Kudos; Silver - 950 Kudos; Bronze - 700 Kudos Laps: 2 Advice: Start by going through the cone gates on this first street, forcing a slide after you pass by the last gate and then sliding through the turn. Go through these next gates and then slide around the corner. There are no cones at all on this street, so if you want to continue your combo you are going to have to force a few slides. Slide around the corner at the end and then slide around the next one. Quickly get to the right side of the road and pass through the speed gate and pass the checkpoint. You're going to have to force some more slides after that. Force a slide to get through the rest of the street and after the turn, force another one or two to get around this next turn. Pass the cone gates around this turn and when you get out of it, you'll probably have to force a slide, but make sure you stay in the middle of the street because there is a speed gate and some normal cones atop the hill. Force yet another slide here and go to the LEFT of the planters. There is one gate here, one in between them and one to the right of them. Pass through these gates if you wish. After clearing them go through the cones, take the jump and then pass the checkpoint. Slide around the corner and force a slide to make it to the speed gate. Force another one to get to the next corner. Force a slide down this hill and pass the gate on the next one. Around the corner there is a street with three gates across it. Go through them and force another slide on the street after the turn. Make the turn and get to the starting line.

London

Location: London - St. James' Park Track: St. James's Bridge Medal Requirements: Gold - 700 Kudos; Silver - 575 Kudos; Bronze - 450 Kudos Laps: 2 Advice: Start out by going through all the gates in the circle. You can slide through them all for even more kudos. Go through the right turn and pass through all of the cone gates. Force a slide through the gap and pass through the cones and the checkpoint. Before the turn, you'll have to force another slide. Slide through the turn and force another slide to get to the next cone gate. You should have enough speed to make it across the bridge, through the gates and the checkpoint without needing to slide. After you get off of the bridge, force a slide to get to the next cones and slide through this turn. Go through all of these gates to make it back to the starting line.

Tokyo

Location: Tokyo - Asakusa Track: Niten Mon-Mae Medal Requirements: Gold - 700 Kudos; Silver - 525 Kudos; Bronze - 350 Kudos Laps: 2 Advice: You start facing the alley that leads to/from the temple. There are no cones in here, so if you want kudos you're going to have to force some slides in here. Since this alley is so narrow, I wouldn't say that it's the best thing you could do. Once you get out of it, slide through the turn, go through the gate and then slide through the next turn as well. Pass the two gates on this street and then slide into this alley which has the first checkpoint. Pass the speed gate after the checkpoint and then slide around the next two corners. Go through the gates here (It doesn't matter if you go left or right for the first ones) and then slide around the next turn. You may have to force a slide in this tight space to get to the next cone gate and the checkpoint. Speed through the next two cone gates and force a slide to get to the next gate. Once in the temple area take the first left where some cone gates are located and finish the lap.

New York

Location: New York - Central Park Track: The Pond Tour Medal Requirements: Gold - 700 Kudos; Silver - 600 Kudos; Bronze - 500 Kudos Laps: 2 Advice: At the start of this race by go through all of the cone gates in front of you. Slide around the first corner and pass the speed gate. Force a slide to get to the next cone gates and the first checkpoint. Force another slide to get to the speed gate up ahead and force another one after it. You can squeeze through the area on the left to pass another speed gate or you can just slide by it on the road. Go through the turns up ahead and a few cone gates. Force a slide again to make it to the checkpoint and the next cone gates. Force a slide yet again before the turn and then slide on through the turn after that. Stick to the right side of the road to pass the next gate and then hit the gate before the starting line. You may need to force a slide to make it to the starting line if you want to continue your combo.

7.3 - Level 3: Hard

This level is where you might start having problems. Getting a gold medal in San Francisco can be very difficult.

San Francisco

Location: San Francisco - Fishermans Wharf Track: Hotel Circle Medal Requirements: Gold - 2400 Kudos; Silver - 2000 Kudos; Bronze - 1600 Kudos Laps: 3 Advice: Start out by going through the cone gates in front of you. Slide around the corner and pass through this cone gate. To make it to the next cone gate, you're going to probably have to force a slide. Start sliding for the turn before you reach the speed gate, otherwise you might not make it in time to continue your combo. Before the soft turn to the right, go up on the curb so you can make a small jump to get you some kudos. Slide around the corner and then through the cone gate. Pass the checkpoint, slide through this corner and force a slide to get up to the next gate. Slide through this turn at the top of the hill (Just be careful not to spin out) and then slide through the next cone gate. If you want to continue your combo here, you're going to have to risk trying to force a slide here without hitting the side. I stopped here, but you can still go for it. Slide around the corner at the top and pass through the gates. For this next turn, you should slow down and slide by tapping your brake and then accelerating and NOT by using the handbrake. It's far too easy to spin out if you use your handbrake on this turn. Pass through the speed gate on the left, make the jump between the cones and then pass the checkpoint and speed gate. Slow down before the last jump so you don't hit the wall and then slide through the corner, passing another gate. Force a slide to make it to the sharp turn atop the small hill. Slide through it and then slide through the gate on the next turn to get back to the starting line.

London

Location: London - St. James' Park Track: Cabinet War Rooms Medal Requirements: Gold - 1200 Kudos; Silver - 1050 Kudos; Bronze - 900 Kudos Laps: 3 Advice: Slide through the first turn and force a slide to get to the first cone gates. Go through either one, it doesn't matter which. Slow down before jumping the stairs to make the turn and then slide to the right when you land. Pass the speed gate and force slide your way to the turn. You can slide through the turn and make it to the first checkpoint without have to force an additional slide. After the checkpoint, force a short slide to make it to the next two gates. After you pass them, force another slide to get to the next gate and then force yet another one after that to get to the last gate before the turn. After the turn you're going to have to force slide your way all the way to a speed gate past the bridge if you want to continue your combo. Force another slide after that gate and then slide through the turn. Go through all of the gates and force a slide after the speed gate to make it to the next gates. Slide through the turns, but stick to the left on the last one, there is a speed gate at the end.

Tokyo

Location: Tokyo - Shinjuku Track: Minami-Guchi Mae Medal Requirements: Gold - 1600 Kudos; Silver - 1350 Kudos; Bronze - 1100 Kudos Laps: 3 Advice: Go through the five cone gates at the start and then force a slide to make it to the turn. Go through the cone gates on this next street and slide around the corner. Pass the checkpoint and cones gates and then slide around this corner. Stick to the right side of the cones to pass a speed gate. In order to get to the next gate you'll have to force some more slides. After these gates, you're going to probably have to force a slide again to make it to the turn. Slide through the S-bend and continue on through the cone gates, past the checkpoint. Once you make the next turn you'll have to quickly decide i you want to go on the left or right side of the street. The left has a very narrow cone gate near the middle but the right has a speed gate at the end. Either way, you'll have to force slide your way through if you want your combo to continue. Slide through the turn and force a slide to make it back to the starting line.

New York

Location: New York - Wall Street Track: State & Battery Medal Requirements: Gold - 1600 Kudos; Silver - 1350 Kudos; Bronze - 1100 Kudos Laps: 3 Advice: Go through the gates at the beginning and then slide through the turn. You'll have to force a few slides to make it to the next cone gate at the turn. Past the turn, go through the checkpoint and through the cone gates. After going through the cone gate around the corner, force a small slide and turn. Force another slide again to get to the next set of cone gates. It doesn't matter which side you choose here, they're all normal cone gates. Go around the corner and through the speed gate. When you get to the next corner, slide through it and then go through the gates. Slide again and pass the checkpoint. Go to the left of the cones to reach the speed gate here and then slide through the turn. On this street you'll have to force a slide to make it to the next turn. Pass the two gates, force a slide and then pass the gates to the right of the cones. Slide through the turn and pass the last gate to make it back to the starting line.

7.4 - Level 4: Very Hard

Obviously, this will be the hardest level in this mode. You are going to have to get even bigger combos here to get gold medals here.

San Francisco

Location: San Francisco - Fishermans Wharf Track: Fish Alley Medal Requirements: Gold - 1800 Kudos; Silver - 1600 Kudos; Bronze - 1400 Kudos Laps: 3 Advice: Slide around the corner in front of you as you start and pass through all of the gates on this street. Slide through the speed gate in the middle of the next corner and slide around the corner at the top of the small hill. Slide again, around the next two corners, and pass through the speed gate. Slide around the next corner and go to the left of the first set of cones, right of the second, left of the third and right of the fourth to get all of the gates. When you reach the next corner, slide around it and then pass the speed gate. You're probably starting to run low on time now, if you are, don't worry. There are no gates at all on the street with the checkpoint, so to continue your combo you'll have to force a slide. After the turn, pass a speed gate and then there is another gap where you'll have to force a slide to continue your combo. Make sure to turn a bit early for the big turn because there are cones on the outside of it that are very easy to hit. Force a slide to make it to the next two turns. Force a slide again to get to the checkpoint and force another one to get from the checkpoint to the next series of cone gates. After the cone gates, slide around the corner and pass the two gates before the starting line.

London

Location: London - Westminster Track: Old Palace Yard Medal Requirements: Gold - 1550 Kudos; Silver - 1275 Kudos; Bronze - 1000 Kudos Laps: 3 Advice: After the first five gates in front of you when you start there is a very long gap that will require many forced slides to get through if you want to continue your combo. When you get through it, pass the speed gate, force a slide and then slide around the turn and through the cone gate. Pass the checkpoint and head through the gates. Force another slide to get to the turn. Past the turn, head to the right of the cones and pass through the gates and then the checkpoint. Slide around this turn and pass the gates on this street. Slide around the next couple of corners and then pass the next set of cone gates. Go through the speed gate and then go to the left of the cones to get to the cone gate. Force a slide to make it to the next speed gate and the starting line, if you want to continue your combo.

Tokyo

Location: Tokyo - Shibuya Track: Shibuya 1-chome Mae Medal Requirements: Gold - 1500 Kudos; Silver - 1250 Kudos; Bronze - 1000 Kudos Laps: 3 Advice: Start by going through the two gates to the left and then forcing a couple of slides to get to the next cone gates. Pass the gates and then slide around the corner. Pass these gates and the checkpoint. Slide around the corner and force slide your way down the street. Go to the right of the cones on this next street and pass the speed gate. Force a slide to get to the turn and force another slide to make it to the checkpoint if you have to. Force yet another slide after the checkpoint to make it to the turn. After the turn, pass the gate and go to the RIGHT of the barrier. There are a few gates here and the left has only a speed gate at the end. If you take the left, force a few slides to get to that gate. Right after the barrier ends, go to the left of the cones to get to the next few gates. Pass through some more gates, slide around the corner and force a slide to make it back to the starting line.

New York

Location: New York - Central Park Track: Central Park West Medal Requirements: Gold - 2000 Kudos; Silver - 1800 Kudos; Bronze - 1600 Kudos Laps: 3 Advice: For the length of the whole street you start on you will have to force slide to get through the few cone gates. Slide around the corner at the end, pass the speed gate and then start another forced slide. Slide around this corner, pass the gate and slide around the corner. Slide again around this corner at the end of this short street and pass the gate here. Force a slide and then slide around the corner. Pass all of the gates plus the checkpoint and then force a slide to make it to the speed gate, if you want to continue your combo. Force slide again here, all the way to the turn. Start sliding through the turn and then head to the right of the barrier near the edge of the circle you have to drive around. Pass all of the gates here and start sliding around the rest of the turn. Slide to the right and pass all of the cone gates and the checkpoint. Slide around the corner and make the slide last long enough to get you to the next cone gates. Force a slide to get to the next speed gate and force another slide to get to the next gates and the starting line.

8. Kudos Challenge

Kudos Challenge is the real heart and soul of this game, you'll be spending much more time here than the other modes. When you play a race for the first time, you usually shouldn't change the difficulty of it. Leave that until you know what you're capable of in that race and adjust it to that to get the maximum amount of kudos you can. An exception is street race, you should always adjust it so you have to come in first place. Getting in first place isn't very hard and you get a lot of kudos (1000) for doing so. As for what cars to use, use the cars that you like the best. You don't always have to go for a car you just unlocked. In levels that have a one on one race, that should be the first race you do of that level, so you have that car at your disposal for the entire level.

8.01 Level 1: Introduction

Races: 4 (Hot lap - single, style challenge, street race, one on one) Medal requirements: Gold - 100 Kudos, Silver - 600 Kudos, Bronze - 200 Kudos

All of these races are very easy, but don't worry if you don't beat them on your first try if you still are getting used to playing the game.

Race 1: Hot Lap - Single

Location: San Francisco - Financial District Track: Warehouse Row Initial target: 33 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: A very simple track to start off Kudos Challenge. The first turn right after the starting line is the only one you have to worry about. It's a sharp turn and even though the road you're turning onto is very wide, it doesn't make it much harder to hit the barrier on the side. The rest of the turns are easy to take and easy to slide around to get kudos. Don't worry about the target of 33 seconds, it's easy to get a time below that.

Race 2: Style Challenge

Location: New York - Times Square Track: West 45th Initial target: 200 Kudos Laps: 2 Advice: Unless you played through some of Arcade Race, this is going to be your first race for kudos. A valuable thing to know for these races is that you will probably need to get big combos to get the gold medals. To help you continue combos in areas where there are no turns to slide around or cone gates to pass through, you'll have to do something which I refer to as forcing a slide. There are two ways to do this. Either tap the handbrake until you slide a bit or swerve left and right until you start to slide. Be careful when doing these, as you can loose control and hit a wall if you screw up. You don't have to listen to my advice for style challenges to the word, if you do you should be able to get a combo through the whole track. You do not need to do that EVER to get a gold. You can stop and let the kudos get added to your score and then start another combo later a few times each race and still get a gold. Start out the race by going through the gates in front of you. After the third one, you can force a slide to get to the turn. Slide around the turn and go through all of the gates here and then pass the checkpoint. Slide around the turn to find another gate. Pass it and slide around the next turn to find a street where you'll have to force a slide or two to get through if you want your combo to continue. Slide around the corner at the end and pass through all of the gates here. Force slide at the end and slide around the corner. Pass the checkpoint here and all the gates on this street to make it to the last corner before the starting line.

Race 3: Street Race

Location: Tokyo - Shinjuku Track: Tochou Dori Loop Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 2 Advice: As I said before, adjust the difficulty to make your target first place. Start out the race by heading down the first street. Brake a bit early for the turn so you can get to the right side of the thing dividing the street. The next turn is a right immediately followed by a left. After that there is a right followed by a very long street. Make sure you don't forget to brake for the right turn after it! There's another big right right before the starting line. Getting first place on this race isn't that difficult, this is only the first level of Kudos Challenge.

Race 4: One On One

Location: London - Trafalgar Track: Duke of York Initial target: -2 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: Just leave the target at -2 seconds. If you have trouble, you can always try again and adjust it. At the start of the race, make sure not to hit those arches on the building in the road. After them there is a left turn followed up by a right. There's another left at the top of this hill onto a long street with another left turn at the end. After that street, be careful as there are some monuments/statues in the middle of the street. There are some stairs by the second one that you'll have to jump down. Make sure you aren't going very fast when you hit them so you have time to make the turn after you land.

8.02 - Level 2: Amateur Season

Races: 5 (Hot lap - single, overtake challenge, street race x2, one on one) Medal requirements: Gold - 1000 Kudos, Silver - 650 Kudos, Bronze - 250 Kudos

Still easy, perhaps even easier since you should be somewhat used to how the game plays by now.

Race 1: Hot Lap - Single

Location: Tokyo - Shibuya Track: Jinnan Loop Initial target: 35 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: The first turn after the starting line is right after a hill, so make sure you brake a little bit earlier than you normally would for a turn like this to compensate for the little bit of extra speed you might have from coming down it. After the first checkpoint there is a sharp turn that can be a real pain. You should be able to slide around it, though. Right before the starting line there is a turn that always caused trouble for me. Just be sure to brake enough for it and don't turn too early (I usually do when I don't go too fast and end up hitting the barrier on the inside).

Race 2: Overtake Challenge

Location: London - St. James' Park Track: Queen Victoria Memorial Initial target: 3 cars Time: 1:15.000 Advice: This track doesn't have any sharp turns and since it's raining, you should be able to slide around all of the turns without having to use your handbrake. Since this is the first overtake challenge, it should be very easy for you to pass all of the cars here.

Race 3: Street Race

Location: San Francisco - Fisherman's Wharf Track: Beach St. Initial target: 3rd Laps: 2 Advice: This race takes place on a track that luckily for you, only has 90-degree turns. After the first turn, go up the hills but slow down enough for the turn so that you don't jump and end up hitting the wall. You can spin out a little bit on this turn and the next one if you aren't careful. After the next one you'll be at the top of the hill. Take this turn very slowly so you don't hit the barriers and so you don't spin out. When going down this hill make sure to brake before you jump for the last time so that you aren't going too fast to make the turn at the bottom.

Race 4: Street Race

Location: New York - Central Park Track: Central Park Initial target: 3rd Laps: 3 Advice: This track is almost too easy for one in Central Park. After the second checkpoint you have to turn onto a narrow road, so make sure you aren't going very fast. After that you have to make another turn on these narrow roads. Then the road turns, slow down just a little to make sure you don't hit the outside barrier.

Race 5: One On One

Location: New York - Wall Street Track: Wall Street Tour Initial target: 0 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: The first turn is onto a street that is kind of narrow and then after that the next turn is onto another road that is just as narrow. The next turn will take you onto a road that is wider at first but gets narrower at the end.

8.03 - Level 3: San Francisco

Races: 6 (Hot lap - single, total laps challenge, overtake challenge, street race x2, one on one) Medal requirements: Gold - 1200 Kudos, Silver - 750 Kudos, Bronze - 300 Kudos

Things are still pretty easy here, but getting gold and silver medals gets a bit harder. Getting all gold and silver medals on this level will unlock Free Roam mode for San Francisco.

Race 1: Hot Lap - Single

Location: San Francisco - Fishermans Wharf Track: The Switchback Initial target: 52 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: You're going to end up having to make it through the switchback in this track. Go very slow before the third turn, if you don't you could spin out. For the switchback, tap your handbrake to spin your car around it.

Race 2: Total Laps Challenge

Location: San Francisco - Financial District Track: Half Block Initial target: 7 laps Time: 1:30.000 Advice: All this track is is four short straight roads and four turns. It's easy enough to get a bronze medal here, all you have to do is complete the 7 laps which isn't very hard. Getting a gold or silver here will be much harder. Your best bet will be to either use your joker or get a very large kudos combo.

Race 3: Overtake Challenge

Location: San Francisco - Pacific Heights Track: Octavia North Initial target: 4 cars Time: 2:00.000 Advice: It is very easy to get kudos on this track because of the jumps you'll make on the hills and the turns. You should have no problem at all passing the four cars, just don't take the turns at the top of the hill too fast and spin out.

Race 4: Street Race

Location: San Francisco - Pacific Heights Track: Buchanan St. Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 2 Advice: Don't worry about the fog, it shouldn't hamper your driving very much since it's still very easy to see where the turns are. After the first turn is the street with the planters in the middle, don't let it take you by surprise. Remember not to take the turns at the top of hills/going onto hills too quickly because you know you can spin out.

Race 5: Street Race

Location: San Francisco - Financial District Track: Ferry Dock Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 2 Advice: This track is really easy. The only thing on it that can be a problem is the first turn. On that turn you can cut across the sidewalk to the right of the first part of the turn and slide through the rest of it.

Race 6: One On One

Location: San Francisco - Fishermans Wharf Track: Hyde St. Initial target: -5 seconds Laps: 2 Advice: By now you should be familiar with what to do on tracks in Fishermans Wharf. Don't go too fast on the turns around the second checkpoint on this track and slow down before the last jump when going down the hill. You can easily make the turn right before the starting line by using your handbrake.

8.04 - Level 4: London

Races: 7 (Timed run, hot lap - average, style challenge, top speed challenge, street race x3) Medal requirements: Gold - 1300 Kudos, Silver - 850 Kudos, Bronze - 400 Kudos

Just as easy as the last level, if not easier because of the lack of hills. Getting a gold or silver medal in every race on this level will unlock Free Roam mode for London.

Race 1: Timed Run

Location: London - St. James' Park Track: Downing Street Initial target: 2 minutes 35 seconds Laps: 4 Advice: You should get more than enough time to complete this first timed run. It will be raining, but you can use that to help you slide around corners. Right after the start, make sure you don't hit the statue in the middle of the street. Just past the first turn the road gets very narrow. When you turn back onto the street with the starting line, make sure to stay out of the middle to avoid hitting anything. There will be some other cars driving around the track as well, try not to hit them.

Race 2: Hot Lap - Average

Location: London - Westminster Track: Waterloo Station Initial target: 25 seconds Laps: 5 Advice: You should be able to slide around all of the turns on this track very easily to get you some kudos. Right after the checkpoint there is a very narrow turn that you must take. The next two aren't as narrow, but the one right after the turn is also quite narrow. You should be able to slide through all of these. The big turn after that is quite easy to make, it's very wide and you can also slide right through it.

Race 3: Style Challenge

Location: London - Trafalgar Track: Regent St. Initial target: 200 Kudos Laps: 2 Advice: There's a long gap from the start to the first gate. You'll have to force a slide to make it from the starting line to that gate. After the gate, slide through the turn and force a slide to make it to the next gates. Go through them and force another few slides to get to the next gates. It doesn't matter if you go to the left or the right of the monuments, the gates are the same. Jump down the stairs (Make sure you can turn afterwards) and go through the gates here.

Race 4: Top Speed Challenge

Location: London - Westminster Track: Westminster Bridge Initial target: 105mph Time: 1:30.000 Advice: Before you play this for real, you should take a lap or two around this track with whatever car you're going to use to see how fast it can go. Once you do, adjust the target speed to as high as the car can go. On the stretch of road right after the starting line you should probably slow down before you get to the speed gate so you can make the turn. This turn is very wide and very easy to slide around. On the stretch of road after that turn you should probably slow down around the checkpoint so that you can make the turn. You can go through any of the arches here as there are only two gates which both span all three arches on either side. Slide through the next two turns and pass the speed gate. Slide around the corner, pass the checkpoint and slide around the next corner. Go through the gates and at the end, force a slide to make it to the next turn. Slide around these turns and go to the left of the cones right after the turn to pass a few gates. You'll have to force a slide to make it back to the checkpoint and force another one if you want to make it to the first gate.

Race 5: Street Race

Location: London - Trafalgar Track: Charing Cross Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 3 Advice: Slide around the first turn and then watch out for the traffic lights or whatever in the middle of the road before the next turn. There are a lot of gentle turns between the two checkpoints that you probably won't have to brake for; but make sure that you do brake for the turn that leads to the second checkpoint. On the last turn, make sure that you aren't too close to the inside of the turn because if you are you will slam head on into a wall.

Race 6: Street Race

Location: London - St. James' Park Track: Horse Guards Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 4 Advice: The track itself in this race is easy but the cars you're racing against can cause some problems for you on turns. Don't let the other cars get in your way when you turn, if they do they can make it much more difficult to turn and you'll loose some speed. If you have to, you can be aggressive and force them out of your way.

Race 7: Street Race

Location: London - Westminster Track: Thames Challenge Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 3 Advice: Very long stretches of road and wide turns. Make sure that the car that you're using for this race can go faster than all of the other cars. All of the turns except for the last ones are easy to slide around. The turns right before the starting line might be too far apart for you to slide around with one big slide.

8.05 - Level 5: Tokyo

Races: 8 (Hot lap - single, hot lap - average, overtake challenge, style challenge, street race x3, one on one) Medal requirements: Gold - 1300 Kudos, Silver - 900 Kudos, Bronze - 500 Kudos

If you haven't been doing what I said about doing the one on ones first in chapters that have them, make sure you do the one on one in this one first anyway. You get the Skyline from it, a car you will probably be using for quite some time. Getting all gold and silver medals on this level will unlock Free Roam for Tokyo.

Race 1: Hot Lap - Single

Location: Tokyo - Shinjuku Track: Nishi-Guchi Mae Initial target: 44 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: This race takes place in Shinjuku, so you won't have much to worry about since most of the roads are wide and there are mostly 90-degree turns. There is a 180-degree turn right before the second checkpoint, but you can easily slide through it.

Race 2: Hot Lap - Average

Location: Tokyo - Shibuya Track: Meiji Dori Loop Initial target: 38 seconds Laps: 4 Advice: Easy just like the last race. However, it is raining, so remember to take things a bit slower (Especially the turn after the second checkpoint). Also, watch out for the divider in the road after the starting line.

Race 3: Overtake Challenge

Location: Tokyo - Shibuya Track: Shibuya Eki Loop Initial target: 8 cars Time: 2:00.00 Advice: This is the only track in the game with anything that resembles a shortcut (Or two shortcuts, actually) in it. Right at the start you can either go to the right, which is the shorter way, or go straight and then turn right. Always take the first right since it is faster. When you get to the underpass area, you should take the inside path or the one to the right side. Right when you come out of the underpass area there is another place where you can turn right or go straight and then turn right. Go right and not straight for the faster route again. You shouldn't have trouble beating this race if you take those shorter routes. If you don't, it'll be much harder to pass the eight cars and even harder if you raise the target to get a gold.

Race 4: Style Challenge

Location: Tokyo - Asakusa Track: Houzou Mon'Mae Initial target: 400 Kudos Laps: 2 Advice: Go through the gates right after the starting line and force a slide to get to the corner. Slide around the corner but be warned, there are cones in the middle of the next street so don't hit them while you are turning. Go through the gates here and then slide around the turn at the end. Go through the gates here plus the checkpoint and then slide around the turn. Pass all of the gates here and start your slide for the next turn a bit early so you can continue your combo and so you can get on the right side of the cones on the next street. If you made it to the right side, pass through the gates and if not, force a slide if you want. Now you're in the alley leading up to the temple. I wouldn't risk forcing slides in here but you can. Halfway through, there is a speed gate and a checkpoint. One you get out of the alley, go to the right and pass through the five gates here. If you don't go right, there are only two gates. Slide around the turn, pass the speed gate and force a slide to make it back to the starting line.

Race 5: Street Race

Location: Tokyo - Shinjuku Track: Higashi Dori Loop Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 4 Advice: Another not-so-difficult race in Shinjuku, although this particular track has a few more nasty turns than most here. First of all, after the first turn you go onto the street which is divided up by the plants. Choose a side to take before you turn (Left is best) and slow down at the right time to get to that side. After that turn you have to go through a small S-bend. It isn't the worst of S-Bends, but slow down a little bit. Before the end you have to make a very sharp turn. As you should know by know, turns like these are easier t

make when you use your handbrake to get around them.

Race 6: Street Race

Location: Tokyo - Asakusa Track: Sumida-Gawa Loop Initial target: 3rd Laps: 3 Advice: After the first checkpoint you will have to go into an alley and then from there you turn into another alley. That's about the only thing the lest bit difficult with this race. Also, be careful of the turn when you come out of the tunnel with the second checkpoint.

Race 7: Street Race

Location: Tokyo - Shibuya Track: Koen-Dori Mae Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 3 laps Advice: This track also isn't that bad. There are just a few turns that are shortly followed up by another turn. After the first checkpoint is the turn which I've told you to watch out for since it likes to trick you into turning too early or too late almost every time you take it. When you turn onto the street with the starting line stay near one of the sides, because this is the street with the divider in the middle of it.

Race 8: One On One

Location: Tokyo - Asakusa Track: Taito-Ku Challenge Initial target: -2 seconds Laps: 4 Advice: Hopefully you're doing this race first like I said to do all one on ones first. You'll especially want to do this first since the Skyline is a car that you will be using for quite some time. After you pass the first checkpoint and make the turn, you'll be on a street with a turn into an alley at the end. From that alley you'll have to make a left into another alley. After the second checkpoint, you'll turn and then turn again into the alley leading up to the temple. You have to make a turn before you reach the temple onto the alley where you started the race.

8.06 - Level 6: New York

Races: 9 (Hot lap - single x2, hot lap - average, style challenge, timed run, overtake challenge, street race x3) Medal requirements: Gold - 1300 Kudos, Silver - 950 Kudos, Bronze - 600 Kudos

This is where things start to get a little bit tougher. Getting all gold and silver medals on this level will unlock Free Roam mode for New York.

Race 1: Hot Lap - Single

Location: New York - Central Park Track: Transverse Track Initial target: 1 minute 25 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: Right after the starting line you have to go through the loop. Just slide on through it like with other turns like it (The ones in Westminster). Once you get off of it you're on a road in the park. This road ends with a sharp right onto a somewhat-narrow road. After the first checkpoint you have to make a left, followed by a right and then another left. Make sure you slow down enough on the road with the second checkpoint since you will be going very fast on it.

Race 2: Hot Lap - Average

Location: New York - Times Square Track: Grand Central Initial target: 53 seconds Medal requirements: Gold - 1300 Kudos, Silver - 950 Kudos, Bronze - 600 Kudos Laps: 5 Advice: This track takes you around Grand Central Station, which isn't good. Most of the roads on this track are very narrow and it's raining. After the second turn you have to make a turn into a very confined area and make some turns in it. After the next checkpoint you have to go back into another part of that confined area and make more turns in it.

Race 3: Hot Lap - Single

Location: New York - Wall Street Track: Nassau Street Initial target: 1 minute 15 seconds Medal requirements: Gold - 1300 Kudos, Silver - 950 Kudos, Bronze - 600 Kudos Laps: 3 Advice: Nothing like a race through the alleys of Wall Street. Except maybe something worse, a race through the trails of Central Park. If you couldn't tell from that, the race isn't going to be fun and takes place in a bunch of alleys. The first turn right after the starting line is onto an alley. After that, you do go onto a road that is considerably wider and after that you get to go on a medium-sized road. It does get very narrow towards the end, however. After that road you make a right and then a left onto a very wide street. Once you turn off of it and onto this other medium-sized road alley, you have to go onto an alley again. The turn from this alley to the alley with the checkpoint has to be one of the worst turns in the entire game. It's so narrow that it is almost impossible to make it without hitting the wall. After this you go onto a lot of roads that are more medium-sized and one very wide one. The medium ones get narrower in parts so watch out. The road that leads up to the starting line is very narrow, as well.

Race 4: Style Challenge

Location: New York - Times Square Track: Times Square Initial target: 500 Kudos Medal requirements: Gold - 1300 Kudos, Silver - 950 Kudos, Bronze - 600 Kudos Laps: 3 Advice: To get from each of the cone gates in front of the starting line without causing a combo to end you're going to have to force some slide unless you have a _very_ fast car. At the end of this street, slide around the two corners. Pass the gates and the checkpoint, after they end you'll have to force a slide to get to the turn. Slide through the turn and pass the gates on the left. Slide again, around the next corner and pass the speed gate. Slide around this corner at the end and pass the checkpoint. Now slide around this next corner and slide yet again around the corner after that. There is another corner for you to slide around here, slide around it and then pass through the gates. You may have to force a slide to make it to the starting line if you want to continue your combo.

Race 5: Timed Run

Location: New York - Wall Street Track: Water Street Initial target: 4 minutes Laps: 3 Advice: Another timed run, and like the last one in London it is also raining here. It actually rains in all of the timed runs. After the first turn you have to turn onto one of those medium-sized roads from the third race and then into a narrow alley. At the end of this alley you have to turn onto another alley and then onto a bigger street with the first checkpoint. The next couple of streets are smaller but not that small. The street with the second checkpoint is very narrow and then at the end you have to make a very sharp turn. You don't have much room to make the turn, so go into it very slowly and slide through it.

Race 6: Overtake Challenge

Location: New York - Central Park Track: Columbus Circle Initial target: 8 cars Time: 2:30.000 Advice: If you couldn't tell already, overtake challenge don't take place on the most complex tracks. Unfortunately for you, there is fog in this race. Shortly after the starting line you'll have to go around the loop (You can slide, as usual) and make a left into a path that is a bit narrow. The other turns aren't as bad, if you can call those bad. Make sure you get the layout of the track down because the fog can really hamper your driving ability on this one and cause you to slam into a wall.

Race 7: Street Race

Location: New York - Times Square Track: Avenue of the Americas Initial target: 3rd Laps: 3 Advice: This track may look very difficult, but it really isn't. Every turn is a 90-degree turn and the only narrow road is the short one after the third turn. The rest of the roads are nice and wide. You should have a very easy time coming in first.

Race 8: Street Race

Location: New York - Wall Street Track: Broadway Initial target: 3rd Laps: 3 Advice: More fun in Wall Street. After the first turn you get to go on a narrow street but quickly make a right onto a medium-sized one. After that you go onto another medium-sized one (Unless you have problems with driving on the sidewalk, then it's narrow) and then onto a bigger street. Turn and then go along another medium-sized street and back into another alley after that. There are a few more medium-sized streets here and then you get to go back on the bigger roads all the way to the starting line.

Race 9: Street Race

Location: New York - Central Park Track: Playground Loop Initial target: 3rd Laps: 3 Advice: Right after the start you have to go around the loop (Which you hopefully know how to deal with by now) and then onto a very long and wide street. After the checkpoint you have to make a turn onto a much smaller street and then make a very sharp turn onto another street that is about the same size. Once you get off of that, you have to make a few turns and then you are on the trails for the first time. The trail you are on winds quite a bit and is very narrow. It's also very easy to spin out on it right before you get back onto the road. At the end of this road you have to make a sharp turn to get back onto the road with the starting line.

8.07 - Level 7: Professional Season

Races: 10 (Hot lap - single, hot lap - average, timed run, overtake challenge, average speed challenge, total laps challenge, street race x3, one on one) Medal requirements: Gold - 1400 Kudos, Silver - 1100 Kudos, Bronze - 800 Kudos

Now that you've completed each city's level, you should be somewhat familiar with the basic layout of each neighborhood and what to expect in each one. You should still be able to beat these races without much trouble; the real trouble starts on the next level.

Race 1: Hot Lap - Single

Location: New York - Central Park Track: Central Park Paths Initial target: 1 minute 25 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: A bit past the starting line you will have to make two left turns and then a right turn, all located right next to each other. A little ways before you get to the first checkpoint, you will have to go onto the dirt paths. After the checkpoint you cross a street and go up a hill. Be careful when going up that hill, you can easily spin out. After the hill, you have to follow this very narrow path that winds quite a bit. You will then have to cross another street and follow another path. This one doesn't wind quite as much at first, but there are a couple of turns by the checkpoint. Take them slowly so you don't lose control. After that, the path starts to wind quite a bit until you get off of it and are back onto the paved roads. Right after you get back onto the paved roads you will be at the loop, slide around it and continue on. Past the loop there is a right turn, you will now be on a road with a sharp right a

the end of it. After that there is a left then the road to the starting line.

Race 2: Hot Lap - Average

Location: New York - Wall Street Track: Hanover Square Initial target: 1 minute 20 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: After the first two turns you will find yourself on a very big road. Once it ends, you'll find yourself going along a bunch of different alleys, three to be exact. After those, you will go onto a medium-sized road that gets narrower at the end and then a wider road with a checkpoint. After this, all of the roads up until the next checkpoint will be narrow alleys, except for one that does get wider. After that, you will be mostly on bigger roads up until you get back to the starting line.

Race 3: Timed Run

Location: Tokyo - Asakusa Track: Azuma-Bashi Initial target: 3 minutes 30 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: Just like the other timed ruins it's raining here. The first turn you have to make will be into the alley leading to the temple. Instead of going all the way up to the temple you make a right into another alley before reaching it. All of the roads after that are much wider. After the second checkpoint slow down so that you can make that turns that takes you into the tunnel.

Race 4: Overtake Challenge

Location: San Francisco - Fishermans Wharf Track: Museum Row Initial target: 8 cars Time: 3:00.000 Advice: This is another simple track to do an overtake challenge on. The only advice for me to give is restart if you screw up. When you finish, you probably won't be that far in front of the 8th car, so if you make a major mistake you won't be able to catch up to it.

Race 5: Average Speed Challenge

Location: London - Westminster Track: Houses of Parliament Initial target: 40mph Laps: 3 Advice: Your speed is only recorded when you pass a checkpoint in this type of race, unlike top speed challenges where it's the speed you get anywhere on the track. On this track all of the checkpoints are placed right after turns. For the first checkpoint and the starting line, you will have to slide around the turns with as much speed as you can and accelerate into the checkpoints. The second checkpoint isn't as bad, since it isn't after a sharp turn. It still is right after a turn, take the turn at an angle so you don't have to lose too much speed.

Race 6: Total Laps Challenge

Location: San Francisco - Fishermans Wharf Track: Embarcadero East III Initial target: 8 laps Time: 3:00.000 Advice: Not very hard. Just get conformable with sliding around the third and fourth turns and beating this race should be a breeze.

Race 7: Street Race

Location: London - St. James' Park Track: Old Admirality Initial target: 3rd Laps: 4 Advice: Fog. This is bad when you start the race on the street with the monuments in the middle of it. Avoid the one that isn't very far in front of you when you start. Once the dirt path that you take through the park ends, you have to make a very sharp turn onto the road. Once you get off of this very long road, you will have to make a left turn into the dirt area that gets narrow enough to only fit one car through at a time. Once you turn back onto the street with the starting line, avoid the statue in the middle of the street.

Race 8: Street Race

Location: Tokyo - Shibuya Track: Kuyakusho Mae Initial target: 3rd Laps: 4 Advice: Oddly similar to a track you raced on during the Tokyo level, isn't it? Try to avoid the other cars at the first turn as much as you can. They like to cause you to spin out. If that happens, just restart, recovering from a spin out can be nearly impossible if they hit you right. Other than that, all you need to watch out for is the barrier in the road between the two checkpoints and that one turn atop the hill after the second checkpoint.

Race 9: Street Race

Location: New York - Central Park Track: Fifth Avenue Initial target: 3rd Laps: 3 Advice: Another race in Central Park. There's nothing you need to worry about before the first checkpoint. In the next two places where the road you're on turns, don't think you can get through the turns without having to brake, you won't make it through them unless you do. When it turns for the third time, you're going to have to brake as well. For the turn after the checkpoint, a slide should get you through it just fine. On this road, you might have to slow down a bit where it makes a slight right turn. Slide through the two turns at the end of it and finish up this race.

Race 10: One On One

Location: San Francisco - Pacific Heights Track: Lafayette Park Initial target: -5 seconds Laps: 4 Advice: Winning here can be quite the challenge. What I recommend here is to do one lap of practice and see how many kudos you are able to get. Multiply that by four for a simple estimate of how many kudos you can get in the race itself. Then, adjust the difficulty so that the kudos you get from the target plus the kudos you will get in the races equals at least 800 (What you need to get a bronze medal). The track this race takes place isn't that difficult. Take it like you would any track in the Pacific Heights, just watch out on the street with the planets.

8.08 - Level 8: World Tour

Races: 12 (Timed run x4, style challenge x4, street race x4) Medal requirements: Gold - 1700 Kudos, Silver - 1300 Kudos, Bronze - 900 Kudos

This is one of the hardest levels in Kudos Challenge. Forget about setting your target in street races to first place every time, in some races you will want to set it to second. In streets races, the car in first place will be very fast, but it is still easy to get in second. You should also begin to add about 5 seconds to your time for timed runs, to make it a bit more reasonable. You won't always need it, but often you will be cutting it a little bit too close if you don't add it. You might want to start practicing using manual transmission if you haven't already, for the extra speed. Starting in this level you should avoid the other cars in street race at all costs. If you're in front of one and it wants to pass, it won't hesitate to bump you and send you spinning. That can very well cost you the whole race, so get good at not letting that happen.

Race 1: Timed Run

Location: San Francisco - Financial District Track: Financial District Initial target: 3 minutes 10 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: A timed run, this means rain. Since this race takes place in the Financial District, the track shouldn't be very difficult for you. There is a sharp turn before the second turn which you will not have seen before, though. Remember what I said about adding time to the target time? This is a good race to start doing that. When I beat this race I had 1 second left on the clock.

Race 2: Style Challenge

Location: San Francisco - Pacific Heights Track: The Straightaway Initial target: 740 Kudos Laps: 2 Advice: Go through the first gate past the starting line and force a slide to get to the next gate. Go through the rest of the gates on this street and then slide around the corner. Go through the gates here and slide around the corner onto another street with gates for you to pass through. Go through them, slide around the corner at the end of the street, but make sure you end up to the left of the cones here to pass this gate. Force a slide to the right side of the street to pass this next gate. Go in between the two planters to pass a speed gate and then slide around the corner. Navigate this path between the cones slowly, so you don't hit the cones. You'll have to force very small slides if you want to keep your combo going between the gates. Slide around the corner and force slide for this first block, but pass the gates to the right of the cones in the intersection. Slide around the corner and pass through these two gates. Slide again, around the next corner, pass the single gate and slide around this turn. Go through all of the gates to get back to the starting line.

Race 3: Street Race

Location: San Francisco - Fishermans Wharf Track: Taylor St. Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 5 Advice: This is probably the easiest race in this level. You should be able to come in first, but it won't be all that easy. By now you should know to take the turn at the top of the big hill slowly to avoid spinning out and know how to slide around the switchback. Try to stay away from the other cars as much as you can, like I said, they have the ability to make you spin if they hit you hard enough.

Race 4: Timed Run

Location: London - Trafalgar Track: Leicester Square Initial target: 2 minutes 40 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: This timed run I found to be a bit easier than the last one. You probably won't have to add a few seconds to the clock. That's because this track isn't all that hard. No big turns to worry about or very narrow roads you have to go along. There is that damned traffic light of whatever in the middle of the road after the first checkpoint, though. The last turn is the only turn hat could be considered difficult, it's a but sharper than usual, but nothing much since you have a lot of room to turn.

Race 5: Style Challenge

Location: London - Westminster Track: Thames Challenge II Initial target: 750 Kudos Laps: 2 Advice: Go through the cone gates a bit of a ways past the starting line. After the fourth one, force a slide to get to the next ones. Past the two speed gates, force a slide to get to the turn and the gates around the turn. You might not want to slide around this turn, because of the gates. Go through the gates on the bridge and then slide around the next corner. Force a slide to make it to the next few gates. After the third speed gate, force a slide to get to the next cone gate. Force a slide from there through the next gate to the corner. Slide through the turns here and then pass the speed gate and checkpoint. Force another slide after the fourth turn to get to the speed gate. From there, slide all the way around this big turn. After you make the right turn, you will have to force slide all the way along this bridge and straigtaway if you want to keep your combo going. Yes, all the way along it. There are no gates at all on it. Slide around the turns at the end and then force a slide after the fourth. Slide around the corner at the end of this street to get to the starting line. To make it to the first cone gates you'll have to force another slide.

Race 6: Street Race

Location: London - St. James' Park Track: Duck Island Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 5 Advice: This is probably going to be the first race where you should set the target to second place the first time you take a go at it. In these races, the first place car and the second place car (Not counting you, wherever you may be) are very far apart. You should be able to at the very least, come in second without much trouble. You can come back later with a faster car to win to get some revenge. Or a gold medal, whichever one you prefer. Remember, a simple bump from one of the other cars can send your car spinning out of control, costing you the race. The very first turn on this track is one of the easiest places to get into first or second place. Your opponents will slow down more than they need to, allowing you to pass them. Since this is the first turn on the track, that gives them the rest of it to catch up to you. Right after the turn onto the street with the first checkpoint there is a narrow passage you have to squeeze through. Going through this when you're too close to another car can be very dangerous, as the other car could send you spinning. At the end of this street there is a statue in the middle at the top of some stairs you have to jump down. Your opponents will usually try and pass you on the straightaways. You can try and block them but if you do that and they bump you...

Race 7: Timed Run

Location: Tokyo - Shinjuku Track: 1-Chome Initial target: 3 minutes 20 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: Add five seconds to the target for the first time you play this race. You'll need it unless you run perfect laps. Luckily for you, this race is in Shinjuku. By now, you hopefully know that that means wide open roads and mostly turns which are easy to make. The area around the starting line is a bit more narrow, but you don't go through any of the bad turns on this particular track. Near the end, you go on the street that's divided up in the middle, but one side of it is closed off.

Race 8: Style Challenge

Location: Tokyo - Asakusa Track: Beer-Biru Mae Initial target: 750 Kudos Laps: 2 Advice: Go through the first two gates after the starting line and then slide around the corner. Force a slide through the first half of the tunnel to make it to the next cone gates. After the turn, go through the gate and force a slide to get to the speed gate. Force slide your way to the end of this street and then slide around the corner. Go through the gates, plus the checkpoint on this bridge and then slide around the corner at the end. Force slide your way all the way down this street. Slide around the turn, pass the speed gate and then force slide all the way down this street. Slide around the corner and force slide your way to the gates on this street. It doesn't matter which gates you go through, they're all the same. Slide around the corner and force slide your way down this alley, if you dare. You really don't have to, but you can. Pass the gate at the end and then slide around the corner at the end of the alley. Pass the gate here and force slide your way from gate to gate until you get to the turn. Slide around it and pass the gates to get back to the starting line.

Race 9: Street Race

Location: Tokyo - Shibuya Track: Jinnan Hairpin Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 6 Advice: Again, you should probably set the target to second place for this race. Right off the bat you're going to have to make a left turn to the underpass area. Take the left path or the inside one, because taking one of them make sit easier to make the left turn right after you get out of it. Before the first checkpoint you will have to go along the block that has the divider in the middle of the street, watch out for that.

Race 10: Timed Run

Location: New York - Wall Street Track: Maiden Lane Initial target: 3 minutes 40 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: Again, add five seconds to the target before your first attempt at the race. The track itself isn't very bad, there is only one alley that you have to go through, which is located right after the first checkpoint. The rest of the roads are mainly your averaged sized road and a couple of those medium-sized ones. If this track isn't very difficult, why should you give yourself five more seconds? Because even though it isn't very hard, you still will probably have trouble getting through it in that amount of time.

Race 11: Style Challenge

Location: New York - Times Square Track: Lexington Ave South Initial target: 750 Kudos Laps: 2 Advice: Go to the left of the first set of cones after the starting line and then the right of the second set of cones to pass the first two gates. Pass the gate on the left, slide around the corner and go to the right of the cones on this street. Pass the speed gate at the end and then force a slide to get to the gates up ahead. Avoid the cones scattered about the street and pass the gates all the way up until the turn. Slide around this turn and pass the checkpoint and speed gate. Slide around the corner here and pass all of the gates on this street. Slide around this corner, pass the gate and force a slide to get to the next corner. Slide around it, pass the two gates and force a slide to get to the next corner, which you should slide around. Pass the two gates and force a slide to the next turn. Slide through it, pass the gate to the right of the cones and slide around the next corner. Pass all of these gates and the ckeckpoint. Force a slide to get to the next two turns. After the turns, you're going to have to force slide all the way until the next turn if you wish to continue your combo. Slide around the corner at the end, pass the gate and force slide your way to the end. Go through the gate at this corner and go through all of these gates as fast as you can to get back to the starting line.

Race 12: Street Race

Location: New York - Central Park Track: Park Loop II Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 4 Advice: I'd be lying if I didn't say this was one of the hardest races in Central Park. Again, set the target to second place, since coming in first will be hard enough just because of the track itself, and then you have to worry about how aggressive the other cars like to be in this level. After the third turn, you get to go on the paths. As you should know from before, they wind quite a bit and are very narrow. This path is no exception. You have to follow it all the way to the first checkpoint and then back onto the roads after the checkpoint. At the end of this road, you have to make a couple of sharp turns and go onto another path. But don't worry about this path, it only goes to the next road right behind it. Slow down where this road bends to the right. Near the end of the lap is the loop, by now you should be able to take it easily.

8.09 - Level 9: Challenge Tour

Races: 10 (Hot lap - single, hot lap - average, total laps challenge, average speed challenge, top speed challenge, timed run, style challenge, overtake challenge, street race, one on one) Medal Requirements: Gold - 1500 Kudos; Silver - 1200 Kudos; Bronze - 900 Kudos

This level is easier than the last one, and half of the races in this levels are on some very simple tracks. (Simple as in that they are made up of a few turns and some straightaways only)

Race 1: Hot Lap - Single

Location: New York - Wall Street Track: State & Broadway Initial target: 1 minute 10 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: There aren't that many alleys that you have to go through on this track compared to many others in Wall Street. You have to go through a couple of them between the two checkpoints and then the rest of the roads there are medium-sized. From the second checkpoint to the starting line back to the first checkpoint all of the roads are wider. The only turn that's the least bit sharp is the one right before the second checkpoint, but it isn't much sharper than any other turn.

Race 2: Hot Lap - Average

Location: London - Trafalgar Track: St. Martin's Initial target: 50 seconds Laps: 4 Advice: You may want to up your target time a little bit to give yourself some room to breathe. But if you don't, you may be cutting it a bit close. It's raining here, but other than that there isn't all that much that you need to look out for. Just the things in the middle of the street which you should be used to by now. That traffic light thing is in the middle of the road right before the second turn and you have to go through the building with the arches right after the turn past the second checkpoint. The turn after the arches takes you up the stairs onto the road with the statues in the middle of it.

Race 3: Total Laps Challenge

Location: Tokyo - Shibuya Track: Hachi-Kou Mae Initial target: 10 laps Time: 3:00.000 Advice: Another total laps challenge on a very short and simple track. All this track consists of, other than the straightaways, is a bend after the starting line and two sets of two left turns right next to each other. Slow down just a little for the bend and slide around the turns at either end of the track and you'll have no problem.

Race 4: Average Speed Challenge

Location: San Francisco - Pacific Heights Track: The Box Initial target: 65mph Laps: 5 Advice: This track is a big square. There are lots of big jumps for you to get plenty of kudos here. The checkpoints and the starting line are in places where you should have a decent amount of speed. Even the second checkpoint, which is right after a turn. The turns on this track are so wide that you can go through them without slowing down all that much. At the end of the street with the second checkpoint you will have to turn onto the street with the planters in it.

Race 5: Top Speed Challenge

Location: San Francisco - Financial District Track: The Embarcadero Initial target: 105mph Time: 1:30.000 Advice: Another simple track, just like the last two. Just like in the last two speed challenges all the way back in level 5, you should see how fast your car can go on this track, and then quit the race and adjust the target speed to match what your car can do. There are speed gates right before both turns to get you some extra kudos. Since this track is only two starightaways and two big turns, the fog here won't be a problem.

Race 6: Timed Run

Location: New York - Times Square Track: West 40s Initial target: 4 minutes 10 seconds Laps: 4 Advice: Don't adjust the target time for this race, you should have plenty of extra time. By plenty I mean a whole 10 or so seconds. As you could have guessed, it's raining. This track is made up of of many straightaways on wide roads with only 90-degree turns. There is one narrow road right after the second checkpoint, but that's it.

Race 7: Style Challenge

Location: London - St. James' Park Track: Buckingham Gate Initial target: 750 Kudos Laps: 2 Advice: There aren't very many gates on this track, so expect to force lots of slides. After the first four gates force a slide to get to the next one. You should be able to barely make it from that one to the next two. Force a slide to make it to the speed gate up ahead. Slide around all of the turns here and pass the checkpoint. The turns are close enough together for you to not have to force a slide. Go through the gate and slide around the turns. Force slide your way down this street, through the few gates here. At the end, slide your way into the park and through the speed gate. There is one more gate between here and the next checkpoint, so if you want to continue your combo you'll be doing lots of forced sliding. Once you pass the checkpoint, pass the two gates and slide around the corner. Now you get to force slide even more. The next gate is at the end of the two lines of cones on either side of one of the monuments. Force slide your way to the next turn and then go to the right of the cones to pass the next three gates. Force slide your way to the turn, slide around it and then pass the last gate before the starting line. You're going to have to force slide again to get from the starting line to the first gates.

Race 8: Overtake Challenge

Location: Tokyo - Asakusa Track: Sensoji Initial target: 14 cars Time: 3:30.000 Advice: Don't let the 14 car target scare you. You have enough time to pass them all. It's raining during this race and three of the four streets on this track are the narrow streets around the temple. As you go along in the race the cars will start to bunch up and will be close together on the track instead of staying spread out like how they were when you started.

Race 9: Street Race

Location: Tokyo - Shinjuku Track: Tochou Dori Loop II Initial target: 3rd Laps: 5 Advice: This street race isn't as hard as the past few. You could set the target for first place if you want to, or play it safe by staying with second. This is another easy race through Shinjuku. Wide roads and easy turns. You start on the road that's divided in the middle, but the right side is closed off. Right before the first checkpoint is the only turn on this track that is the least bit difficult, because you don't have as much room to turn as on the other turns.

Race 10: One On One

Location: London - Westminster Track: Milbank Initial target: -5 seconds Laps: 4 Advice: Another track with a simplistic design. A couple of straightaways, two big turns and two smaller turns. Just slide around the bigger turns and go around the smaller turns like any turn. The 5 second default headstart should be enough to keep you ahead for the entire race.

8.10 - Level 10: Endurance Season

Races: 8 (Hot lap - single x4, street race x4) NOTE: There are different medal requirements for the hot lap races and street races in this level Medal Requirements (Hot lap): Gold - 1600 Kudos; Silver - 1300 Kudos; Bronze - 1000 Kudos Medal Requirements (Street race): Gold - 8000 Kudos; Silver - 5000 Kudos; Bronze - 2000 Kudos

They don't call this the endurance season for nothing. All four street races (One on each city) in this level are 15 laps long. Although, they are much easier than the street races in the last two levels, you can set the target to first place for all of these without having to worry about a car passing you right before the race ends, or not being able to get in first in the first place. You should reach 150,000 kudos some time around this level and unlock the Carrera GT. That car will become very useful and once you have it, you should start using it for most races.

Race 1: Hot Lap - Single

Location: San Francisco - Fishermans Wharf Track: The Waterfront Initial target: 1 minute Laps: 3 Advice: A simplistic track, just like many of the ones in the last level. All of the turns are easy and all of the roads are nice and straight, but one. The sharp turn is the one after the first checkpoint, by now you should know how to slide around it easily because of all the space around it. The road that isn't straight is the one after the sharp turn next to a parking lot and near the water. You've been through it many times by now and know that isn't any real threat.

Race 2: Street Race

Location: San Francisco - Financial District Track: Cable Car Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 15 Advice: Your first 15 lap street race. This race takes place on an easy, albeit long, track through the Financial District. There are no bad turns or narrow roads for you to worry about screwing up on, causing you to lose. It's easy to get into first and get very far ahead of the other cars by the end of the race, when I finished this race I was about 15 seconds ahead of the second place car.

Race 3: Hot Lap - Single

Location: London - Westminster Track: Westminster Challenge Initial target: 1 minute 10 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: It's foggy and raining here, but that won't prevent you from seeing that this track is easy as well. Slide around the loop after the first straightway and slide through all of the turns after the first checkpoint. Around the second checkpoint there are a few more turns that are usual for this area, but you can still slide through them all with ease, like with all of the other turns on this track.

Race 4: Street Race

Location: London - St. James' Park Track: The Mall East Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 15 Advice: This street race is easy, just like the last one. Although, on this one you have to actually worry about some things on the track like the statue in front of the starting line and the place where the road gets very narrow for a moment right after the first turn. There's also the statue at the end of that road with the stairs by it. Right before the turn onto the street with the starting line, the road gets narrow briefly again and there is a statue right after the turn.

Race 5: Hot Lap - Single

Location: Tokyo - Asakusa Track: Koen Minami Initial target: 1 minute 15 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: Fog. And a few alleys. Right after the start you have to go up the alley leading to the temple, all the way to the temple. After you leave the temple and pass the checkpoint, you turn right onto a normally sized road. From that road you go left through the only alleys on this track.

Race 6: Street Race

Location: Tokyo - Shinjuku Track: Tochou Kita-Dori Higashi Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 15 Advice: Shinjuku again... You should know what that means, an easy track. Except that this track houses the one turn that can be considered difficult in all of Shinjuku. It's located after the first easy right and past the busses on the left. It's a quick left then right, but you can cut through it. Your opponents in this race will be just as easy as they were in the last two street races.

Race 7: Hot Lap - Single

Location: New York - Times Square Track: Bryant Park Initial target: 1 minute 48 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: Just by looking at it you can tell that this track won't be as easy as many of the last ones. But, just because it isn't as easy as the last ones doesn't make it hard. After the third turn you have to go up along one of the narrow roads along side Grand Central Station and make the turns along it. The road that the second checkpoint is on is that narrow road that goes under a building.

Race 8: Street Race

Location: New York - Wall Street Track: FDR Drive Loop Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 15 Advice: This race is much harder than the past three street races. Use the Carrera GT for it. If you don't have the Carrera GT, now is the time to unlock it. The track is simple in design with only three real turns on it. The first one can be quite a problem. Learn when you should start to brake for it, using the buildings on the left to help since there are no markings on the street you can use. It's better to slow down a bit too early than to end up going to fast and hitting the wall, so slow down earlier than you think you have to until you get the hang of the turn. Before the third turn there is a divider in the middle of the road. Obviously, you should avoid it. It's also easy to go too fast for the third turn, although not as easy as the first one. Going too fast on this turn and hitting the wall can give the other cars a chance to pass you up and get far ahead of you. You might want to try practicing the turns a couple of times until you got the timing down for them.

8.11 - Level 11: World Class Season

Races: 10 (Hot lap - single, timed run, top speed challenge, total laps challenge, overtake challenge, style challenge, street race x3, one on one) Medal Requirements: Gold - 2000 Kudos; Silver - 1500 Kudos; Bronze - 1000 Kudos

You should defiantly have the Carrera GT by now. If you don't, work on getting the kudos to unlock it. With it this whole season will be no problem.

Race 1: Hot Lap - Single

Location: London - Westminster Track: The Embankment Challenge Initial target: 1 minute 30 seconds Laps: 3 Advice: Yet another simple track. You can easily slide through the series of turns at each end of the track like you've done quite a few times by now and slide through the turns going on/off the bridge when you pass to the left of the starting line. The turns before and after the starting line are a bit tight, but can still be slid through.

Race 2: Timed Run

Location: London - St. James' Park Track: The Treasury Initial target: 4 minutes 50 seconds Laps: 4 Advice: You get way more than enough time for this race. About thirty seconds more than you should need, if you want more kudos drop the target time by 20 or 25 seconds. As usual, it's raining. The second turn takes you onto the road that has a spot where it gets very narrow right after the turn and ends with the stairs with a statue at the top. After the second checkpoint, you have to go around part of the loop here, with the rain you can slide through it even easier than before.

Race 3: Top Speed Challenge

Location: New York - Wall Street Track: Water & FDR Initial target: 105mph Time: 1:30.000 Advice: Again, if you want to get as many kudos as possible take a practice run to see how fast your car can go so you can adjust the target to meet that. The track this takes place on is very different from the ones the other top speed challenges took place on. You can only get a lot of speed on the straightaway that you start on, the other one has a very dangerous S-bend in it that you will have to slow down for. Instead of there being one big turn or two smaller ones at each end of the track, the first one is made up of three turns of varying sizes and the second one is made up of two smaller ones, but they are much further apart than the ones in the other tracks. There are also speed gates on this track before each series of turns.

Race 4: Total Laps Challenge

Location: London - Trafalgar Track: St Martins North Initial target: 7 laps Time: 2:00.000 Advice: This track is a simple oval. 7 laps is very easy to do, you can probably even do 8 on your first try.

Race 5: Overtake Challenge

Location: New York - Times Square Track: East 42nd II Initial target: 8 cars Time: 3:00.000 Advice: Another track that is simple in design. What's with all these near the end of the game? Well, I guess tracks like the one for the one on one for this level make up all of the simple tracks. 8 cars is easy to do. The streets here are the average size of the ones in Times Square with no really small ones and all of the turns are 90-degrees.

Race 6: Style Challenge

Location: San Francisco - Financial District Track: Sansome St. Initial target: 850 Kudos Laps: 2 Advice: Another easy race, you can get way more than 850 kudos here without a problem. You might want to boost the target up to at least 1000. You won't be able to make it from the first gate to the second gate without forcing a slide. Continue on through the next two gates and then slide around the corner. Make your slide last long enough to get you close to this next gate. Unless you're going very fast, you will have to force slide to get between the gates here. Slide around the sharp turn at the end of the street and then slide through the next turn. Go through the gates and slide through the turn here. Pass the speed gate and the checkpoint on this street. Slide around this turn at the end of the street and then slide around this turn . After the turn ,force a slide to get to the speed gate near the end of this street. Pass it, slide around the turn and then force a slide to make it to the gates to the right of the cones up ahead. Once you pass the third gate, slide around the turn. Force slide your way down the street and continue forcing a slide after you pass the first gate or two to get to the next ones. Slide around the turn here and pass the checkpoint. From here to the starting line there is only one gate and it is right before the starting line. If you want to keep your combo going, you're going to have to force slide your way all the way through this section of the track.

Race 7: Street Race

Location: San Francisco - Pacific Heights Track: Pacific Heights Loop Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 5 Advice: Your opponents in this race are nothing compared to the might of the Carrera GT (Which you better be using). This race is your typical easy race through the Pacific Heights. Just watch out for the street with the planters before the second checkpoint.

Race 8: Street Race

Location: London - Trafalgar Track: The Royal Haymarket Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 5 Advice: This race beats all others in the category of things in the middle of the street. You have to go by the weird traffic light thing, the monuments along the long street and through the building with the arches in the street. While you avoid those you have to deal with pulling ahead of your opponents. They really can get in your way in this race. The Carrera GT is still much faster than them, so coming in first won't be all that hard.

Race 9: Street Race

Location: Tokyo - Shinjuku Track: Sumitomo-Biru Higashi Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 5 laps Advice: Right after the first turn you turn onto a street that you've probably never been on before. There is a support for an overpass in the middle and then some obstructive object right after it. Don't let these things take you by surprise. Other than that, this is just your typical race in Shinjuku. Again, the Carrera GT is much faster than any of your opponents and will give you an easy victory.

Race 10: One On One

Location: New York - Times Square Track: East 42nd I Initial target: -10 seconds Laps: 4 Advice: The race is quite easy and somewhat pointless since the Carrera GT is so much better than the Viper in all the categories. The race itself isn't as hard as the layout of the track could make it look. No excessively sharp turns and no roads that are very narrow.

8.12 - Level 12: Invitational Season

Races: 12 (Hot lap - average x2, style challenge x2, average speed challenge, top speed challenge, street race x5, one on one) Medal Requirements: Gold - 2000 Kudos; Silver - 1500 Kudos; Bronze - 1000 Kudos

Soon you should get to the 200,000 kudos mark and unlock the F50. Once you get it, there isn't much of a point to kudos anymore except to get gold medals. The F50 performs about the same as the Carrera GT, so it doesn't matter which one you use. After you beat this season you'll unlock the bonus level.

Race 1: Hot Lap - Average

Location: Tokyo - Shinjuku Track: Ohme Kaido Nishi Initial target: 1 minute 22 seconds Laps: 4 Advice: By now driving in the rain shouldn't be much more difficult than driving when it's clear. You'll notice that after the first checkpoint, the track gets a bit twisty. It does, but it's nothing that you haven't seen before. Speaking of what you've seen before, you'll go through a new part of the neighborhood on this track. It's a little underground area after the second checkpoint.

Race 2: Hot Lap - Average

Location: New York - Central Park Track: The Rink Initial target: 1 minute 35 seconds Laps: 4 Advice: Central Park. As you know, that can't be good. Right when you get into the park itself you're on one of those narrow trails that winds all over the place. Once you get onto the path there is a little tunnel that you have to go through, which is even more narrow than the trail. Don't hit the sides of the tunnel before going through it. You get a brief break from the trails by the first checkpoint, but are thrown back onto them after it. Right after this new trail starts, you will have to make a sharp right turn. After the second tunnel, past the turn, you have to go through some arches like the ones in Trafalgar. Now you'll be in another new area. From here the race is just straightaways and a few turns.

Race 3: Style Challenge

Location: Tokyo - Shibuya Track: Higashi-Guchi Hairpin Initial target: 850 Kudos Laps: 3 Advice: The target in this race isn't all that hard to pass up by quite a bit. Slide around the first corner and go to the left of the cones to pass the first gate. Continue on through the gates and slide around the corner. Go through the gates here and go to the left of the barrier to pass a few more gates. Force a slide and pass the next three gates. Force another slide to get to the speed gate up ahead. Slide around the corner and force slide your way up this street. Don't miss the cones on the left in the middle of the turn. Pass the checkpoint, then the cone barrier and then slide around the next turn. Pass the speed gate here and then force a slide to get to the next two gates. Force slide again and go to either side of the cones, there are no gates on either side. Continue sliding all the way to the starting line. If you want to make it to the next gate you'll have to force a slide to get to the turn and force another slide after the turn.

Race 4: Style Challenge

Location: New York - Times Square Track: Times Square II Initial target: 850 Kudos Laps: 3 Advice: Another style challenge with a very low target. Up it to 1000-1100 if you wish for your first try. Go through the gates in front of you and then slide through the corner, passing the speed gate to the left in the turn. On the next turn there is also a speed gate to the left, but you may not want to risk trying to slide through it. Slalom around the cones on the sides and through the gates on this street. Slide through the turn and pass the gate. Risk sliding through this next turn if you want and pass the gate either way. Pass the checkpoint and the gates here and then force a small slide to get to the turn. Slide through it, pass the gate and slide around the next turn. Pass the gate here and don't even try to risk forcing a slide here. It's far too narrow. Go through the gates at the end, take this turn slowly and then go through the gates on this street. Slide around the turn and pass through the many gates on this street. Slide around the last corner, go through the gate and reach the starting line.

Race 5: Average Speed Challenge

Location: Tokyo - Shibuya Track: Minami-Guchi Mae Initial target: 65mph Laps: 5 Advice: This race shouldn't be very challenging despite the fog. The turns are wide enough for you to go through and keep enough speed to get through the checkpoints with much more than the default target of 65mph.

Race 6: Top Speed Challenge

Location: New York - Times Square Track: Central Library Loop Initial target: 105mph Time: 1:30.000 Advice: This top speed challenge has normal cone gates in addition to speed gates. There is a group of cone gates that you'll have to swerve through before the first turn. There's a speed gate right after the second turn and more cone gates to swerve through at the end of this street. After the last turn there is another speed gate.

Race 7: Street Race

Location: Tokyo - Asakusa Track: Kototoi-Bashi Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 5 Advice: It's been a long time since you've last been in Asakusa, hasn't it? Don't worry, after the second turn you get to go onto your favorite part of the track, the temple complete with the alley leading to it! After that, you go to the other side of the river, where the tunnel is.

Race 8: Street Race

Location: New York - Central Park Track: 5th Ave East Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 5 Advice: You should probably set the target to 2nd for your first try at this race, just in case your screw up. You don't have to go on the paths at all in this race, but there are some tight turns. Namely the ones after the first checkpoint and the one before the starting line.

Race 9: Street Race

Location: London - St. James' Park Track: Royal London Challenge Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 5 Advice: Another easy race. You start on the street with the statues, don't let the fog cause them to jump out at you. After the first turn, you have to go through the spot where the road gets narrow. Past the first checkpoint you also have to go around most of the loop.

Race 10: Street Race

Location: New York - Wall Street Track: Custom House Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 5 Advice: This race takes place on one of my favorite tracks. I love the tunnel and the speed you can get on some parts. You start at the entrance to the tunnel on the right side, don't attempt to cross to the left here. Carefully try to squeeze by the other cars while you're in the tunnel. Once you get out of the tunnel, you'll get some much needed room on this runway-sized road that ends all too soon. After that, it's smooth sailing on wide roads up until you get to one narrow one right before the starting line. When you get back to the tunnel, I'd recommend that you go right again, I find it much easier to make the curve on that side.

Race 11: Street Race

Location: San Francisco - Financial District Track: Financial Challenge Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 5 Advice: The Financial District. Still as easy as it ever was. That one turn that is sharp is on this track, however.

Race 12: One On One

Location: New York - Wall Street Track: Beaver St Initial target: -15 seconds Laps: 4 Advice: Is it me or does this track look like some kind of animal, possibly a bunny? Anyway, back to business. Like in the last level with the Viper, this comes way too late in the game for the 911 to be a very useful car. You shouldn't have any trouble beating it, especially if you can speed through the tunnel without hitting the walls. Right after one of the first turns you have to go through an alley. Past that, before you get to the tunnel, you have to make an S-Bend. When you get to the tunnel, go through the right/inside as I've told you to before, unless you find the other side to be easier. Slow down at the end, you have to make a turn right after you get out of it. After that, you will have to go through one alley. When you get closer to the second checkpoint, there is a sharp right around the statue of a bull. From there, you go through some smaller roads to get back to the starting line.

8.13 Level 13: Bonus Level

Races: 12 (Street race x12) Medal Requirements: Gold - 10000 Kudos; Silver - 6500 Kudos; Bronze - 3000 Kudos Note: This level will not show up on the level selection list unless you have completed level 12

This is it, the final level. In every race you will be up against two Carrera GTs and three F50s. They won't be easy to beat unless you get an early lead on them. I'll explain how you can get that lead for every race. During this level you're going to probably have to block cars that try to pass you very often. You will also need to learn just how to bump cars in front of you to get them to spin out so you can easily pass them. When you're in a turn behind another car, bump it on the side near the rear wheels and it should spin out causing it to fall very far behind in the race. Once you've done this a few times you will be able to do it with ease. When setting the target before each race, you should probably keep it at third place the first time you do the race and then come back and set it at first to get you golds later. Finishing each race with a gold medal will get you a new paintjob for a certain car.

Race 1: Street Race

Location: San Francisco - Financial District Track: Federal Reserve Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 10 Advice: At the very beginning of the race, squeeze your way through the inside of the turn and you should be in second or third. From here, you should slowly gain on the car in first place and by the end of the first lap or in the beginning of the second lap you should be able to pass it. Once you get in first, the car in second will do what it can to pass you. Block it if you can and if it passes you, bump it.

Race 2: Street Race

Location: San Francisco - Fishermans Wharf Track: Russian Hill Challenge Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 10 Advice: This race is significantly more difficult than the last one because of the hills and smaller turns, if you haven't mastered them yet. You can also use these turns to your advantage. When the race starts, don't get caught between the cars at the first turn. After that turn, you should be able to get into 2nd or 3rd place. From there you can start to catch up to the car in 1st by the time you get to the switchback. As long as you don't make any bad mistakes, you can easily get a very big lead on all of the other cars. If you continue to do just as well, you can easily finish in first place.

Race 3: Street Race

Location: San Francisco - Pacific Heights Track: Historic District Challenge Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 10 Advice: You can also use the turns to your advantage on this track. Avoid the cars for the first turn and after it you should be in 2nd place. The car that is now in 3rd might get close to you and pass you as you get near the street with the planters in it. If that car does pass you right before that street like it usually does, you can bump him just a little bit and he will ever mess with you again. After that, you can start to catch up to the car in first place. It might take a few laps, but it can be done. If you bump him on a turn like with the car in third, you can claim an easy victory.

Race 4: Street Race

Location: London - Trafalgar Track: Admirality Arch Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 15 Advice: This track may not have all that many turns to give you chances to pass the other cars, but that doesn't mean this race is very hard. Stay away from the other cars for the first couple of turns as usual and you'll be able to pull ahead of most of them. After a couple of laps you should be able to catch up to the first place car. You can either bump him or just pass him when you get the chance. If you don't bump him, he may give you some trouble until he either passes you and you bump him or he ends up screwing up on the turn after the stairs, like many of the other cars do. Once you do bump him or he screws up on that turn, this race is a piece of cake.

Race 5: Street Race

Location: London - Westminster Track: Big Ben Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 12 Advice: This race is MUCH harder than the last ones. There are only four turns on the entire track and your opponents have no trouble on them. When the race starts, you're going to have to do what you can to avoid all of the cars on the first turn. What I did was go to the left of the road you start on, right behind the other cars. They went to the right to help them on the turn and I stayed to the left and passed some of them. On the turn I forced my way through them and was in second afterwards. Now you can slowly start to catch up to the car in first. As usual, this may take a couple of laps. Once you get in first, things really start to get tough. When in first place you're going to have to deal with the cars behind you. Unless you're using manual, they can catch up to you on the straightaways and when you get to the turns, they will try to bump you and cause you to spin out. Fend them off as best you can and try and come in a good position at the end.

Race 6: Street Race

Location: London - St. James' Park Track: St. James's Park Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 10 Advice: This race is much, much easier than the last one. You can easily get into first place after the first turn. Right when the race starts, go to the left side of the road. Brake late for the turn and slide around it with your handbrake. You might hit the wall, but you should be in first place. If you screw up, you can always restart. The other cars will be close for the first lap or two, but soon enough you'll get a significant distance in front of them.

Race 7: Street Race

Location: Tokyo - Shinjuku Track: Koshu Kaido Nishi Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 10 Advice: It'll take you a bit longer to get into first in this race than in the last race. After the first turn, you'll probably in fifth place at best. Your first big chance to pass some cars is on the second turn and the turns following it. After those turns, you should be in second. Once you're in second, it may take a lap or two to get into first. When you get further into the race the car in second may slowly start catching up to you. If that happens, you can always let him pass you and then give him a small bump on a turn.

Race 8: Street Race

Location: Tokyo - Shibuya Track: Shibuya Challenge II Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 12 Advice: Right when you start this race the F50 that starts in fifth place is going to move right into your path. While he goes right in front of you, you can move to the left side of the road and pass some of the cars. Take the first turn as best as you can with all of the other cars there. After the turn, you should be in second or third place. Just like in most of the other races, you should slowly be catching up to the car in first and be in first in a few laps. Further into the race the car in second will try and take first. If he gets into first, you can give him a small bump, as usual.

Race 9: Street Race

Location: Tokyo - Asakusa Track: Eki-Mae Hairpin Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 10 Advice: Getting into first right away is going to be a problem again on this track. No matter how you take the first turn, you're going to be far behind the car in first. When you take the turn, it's easiest to go through the inside. Do what you can to get closer to the car in first. The F50s on in this race have trouble on the turn before the the tunnel near the start. They often take it too quickly and spin out. If that doesn't happen, you can still catch up in a lap or two. Once you're in first you will have to deal with the car in second trying to pass you, but you know what to do when that happens.

Race 10: Street Race

Location: New York - Times Square Track: East to West 40th Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 10 Advice: This race is a bit more difficult than the past few, because of the long straightaways. Cut through the inside of the first turn and you'll be able to get into second place. Just like in the other races, you'll be able to slowly catch up to the car in first place. You should be able to get into first by the end of the first lap. Once you're in first, you're going to have to deal with trying to get passed. Do what you've been doing (Blocking, bumping) to hold your position.

Race 11: Street Race

Location: New York - Central Park Track: Park Loop Reverse Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 10 Advice: Pass up as many cars as you can when you go through the loop. You'll probably be able to pass four of them getting you into second place. From there you can slowly catch up to the car in first just like in nearly every race in this level. You won't need to bump the car in first to keep him from trying to pass you, you'll be able to get very far ahead of him. Since you get a lot of speed on this track, it is very easy to brake too late and hit something, don't be afraid to brake a little bit earlier than you might think you need to.

Race 12: Street Race

Location: New York - Wall Street Track: Water & Nassau Initial target: 3rd place Laps: 10 Advice: It's very hard to get a good start on this race, if you don't get a good one don't be afraid to restart. When you start, stick to the right of the other cars and go along the barrier on the right side. Before the turn you should be in third place. You should be able to pass another car while going through the turn. After the next few turns you should be in first. Once you're in first, the car behind you may try to bump you a few times but eventually you'll pull ahead of him.

10. Medal Pursuit & Time Attack

===================================================================Edit

10.01 - Time Attack

Time Attack is just like a time trial mode in any racing game, you are put on an empty track and race to get the best time or practice on that track. Although unlike the other modes in this game, you do not unlock anything in this mode. It's purely for practice and competing against friends to see who can get a faster time. New tracks become available for play in Time Attack mode after every 50 or 100 miles that you have driven until all of them are unlocked. You can also unlock Free Roam, which becomes available in Time Attack mode. In Free Roam you get to drive in whichever neighborhood you chose it in, but there is no track, you can drive anywhere within the neighborhood's boundaries. There are also a set number of cones placed around the neighborhood for you to hit, hitting them all ends the game and the time it took you to hit them all is recorded.

10.02 - Getting Free Roam

Getting Free Roam isn't all that hard. All you have to do to open it is to get all gold or silver medals on the level in Kudos Challenge which corresponds to the city which you want to unlock Free Roam for. For example, to unlock free roam in San Francisco, get only gold and silver medals in level 3 of Kudos Challenge. Once you have unlocked Free Roam for a city, go into Time Attack mode and go to one of the city's three neighborhoods. You can find Free Roam at the top of the list of tracks. One you get Free Roam, there is an exploit you can use to get a time of 0:00.000 Start a Free Roam and hit all of the cones. On the menu after the race, choose retry. When the race starts, pause the game and exit. You'll now have a time of 0:00.000 added to the scoreboard.

10.3 - Medal Pursuit

This mode becomes available after 5 hours of play. Each medal you get will unlock a new paintjob for the car that used to get that medal.
